Hi @Mateusz_Borowiec, I found a mismatch in your 2026.9.15 report: the channel was set to Substream, but the active video profile still showed Automatic. I have published a targeted fix in test version 2026.9.16.

Please update the app, save Substream + Direct RTSP again in the settings of the individual NVR channel, then close and reopen Live. Let me know whether it works in the Homey app and Homey Web. If it is still black, please share a new bug report from 2026.9.16. I cannot test this against an NVR locally, so this remains a test rather than a confirmed fix.

Hi @Mateusz_Borowiec, thank you for testing again. Your 2026.9.16 report confirms that the individual channel now uses the selected Substream + Direct RTSP settings. RTSP authentication succeeds and the NVR advertises an H.264 video stream, so those parts are working. The picture is still black, and I have not given up on finding out why.

I do not have an NVR myself, which makes this harder to reproduce. Test version 2026.9.17 adds one more privacy-safe check: it records whether Homey actually requests the channel’s Live video URL and whether the app can provide it. Please update to 2026.9.17, open Live once on your phone and once in Homey Web, then send a new bug report from the individual NVR channel. Please say which of the two views remained black. The report does not contain the RTSP URL or your credentials.

@EdNL @Mateusz_Borowiec I’ve published test version **2026.9.18**. Please update the Hikvision app before testing again.

@EdNL: I’ve made the exit control easier to reach when the zoom widget rotates, and stopped forcing that rotation on an iPad already in landscape. Could you test two camera widgets in succession on your iPhone and iPad, and check whether you can always return to the dashboard? This is not yet a complete native fullscreen solution.

@Mateusz_Borowiec: Your previous report shows that Homey requested the channel video URL, but that alone does not prove the player displayed the video. The new report makes that distinction explicit. Could you test channel 1 with **Substream** and **Automatic** video transport (instead of Direct RTSP), once on your phone and once in Homey Web? If either view stays black, please share a new bug report from version 2026.9.18 and tell me which view failed. I still don’t have an NVR to reproduce this locally, but I’m continuing to investigate.

@EdNL I’ve published test version 2026.9.19. Please update the app, open Live in the Homey app and, if the image is black, create a bug report via Repair device _before_ changing Video transport. Then switch Automatic → Direct RTSP → Automatic, reopen Live and send a second report. Please also retry the dashboard’s enlarge button and tell me what happens. This version improves diagnostics and fullscreen feedback; it does not yet guarantee a fix. Thanks for testing!

@EdNL @Mateusz_Borowiec I’ve published test version 2026.9.20. This update improves the bug report; it does not yet change video playback. Please update first, reproduce the black Live view, then create a fresh report via Repair device. EdNL: make the report before changing Video transport. Mateusz: use the individual NVR channel and please say whether Live is black on mobile, Homey Web, or both. The new report should retain the stream and video-registration details even if another diagnostic fails. Thanks for testing again!

</div>

@Mateusz_Borowiec I have published test version 2026.9.21. Please update the app first.

For the individual NVR channel, open Advanced Settings and set **Playback transport** to **iPhone/Homey compatibility**. Save the setting, completely close Live view and then reopen it on your iPhone.

This new mode explicitly uses the detected H.264 substream through Homey’s WebRTC route. The bug report now also shows the effective stream and playback route without the earlier conflicting parent-NVR information.

If the picture remains black, please create a new bug report from version 2026.9.21. The next options would then be:

- compare the result in Homey Web to determine whether the issue is iOS-specific;
- investigate whether the NVR’s PCMU audio track interferes with Homey playback;
- test a small local compatibility proxy that exposes a video-only stream, because the Homey SDK itself cannot remove audio or transcode the stream.

I have not given up on this, but because I do not have an NVR myself, your test remains important.

@Mateusz_Borowiec, could you please test the following:

- Open [Homey Web](https://my.homey.app) on a computer.
- Open the individual NVR channel and start Live video.
- Tell me whether Homey Web shows video or also remains black.
- If it remains black, please create one new bug report after opening Live in Homey Web.

This will show whether the problem is limited to the iPhone player or also affects Homey’s WebRTC route.

@Mateusz_Borowiec, version 2026.9.22 is now available in Test. Please update the app first.

On Homey Web you can create the bug report as follows:

1. Right-click the individual NVR channel device tile.
2. Select **Repair**.
3. Open **Bug report** and choose **Create again**.
4. Select **Copy bug report**. If the copy button does not work, select and copy the text manually.

After updating, please test Live video again in Homey Web and share the new report from the individual NVR channel device, not from the parent NVR.

@Mateusz_Borowiec, test version **2026.9.23** is now available. Your previous report confirmed that the NVR accepts the RTSP connection and describes the H.264 substream, but that did not yet prove that actual video packets are delivered.

I have therefore added a short, read-only RTSP playback diagnostic. Please:

1. Update to 2026.9.23.
2. Open the individual NVR channel and try Live video once.
3. Open **Repair** for that same channel and create a new bug report.
4. Post the new report here.

The new report will show separately whether RTSP **SETUP** , **PLAY** , and actual video packet reception succeed. This should tell us whether the problem is in the NVR stream or after the stream is handed to Homey.

</div>

@Mateusz_Borowiec, test version **2026.9.24** is now available. I have extended the diagnostics without changing the current playback route.

Please:

1. Update to 2026.9.24 first.
2. Open the individual NVR channel and try Live video once.
3. Open **Repair** for that same channel and create a new bug report.
4. Send the new report to me by private message (DM), rather than posting it publicly in this topic.

The report now reads the NVR’s encoder settings and analyses about five seconds of video traffic, including the actual bitrate, packet continuity, frame boundaries, SPS/PPS and IDR keyframes. This should show whether Homey receives a complete decodable video start or only valid RTSP traffic.

@Mateusz_Borowiec and @EdNL: please also remove your earlier bug reports from the public topic. Although credentials and network addresses are filtered, diagnostic reports are better shared privately.

@EdNL, yes, this update is also for you. Version 2026.9.26 also restores fullscreen landscape viewing in the camera widget.

@Mateusz_Borowiec, version 2026.9.26 is now available in Test. I have not given up on the NVR issue. The latest report showed that the NVR accepts RTSP and sends H.264 video data to Homey, so I have improved the diagnostics and added a controlled audio compatibility test.

Please:

- update to 2026.9.26 first;
- open the settings of the separate NVR camera channel;
- test Live video once with **Test live video without audio** disabled;
- enable that option, save the settings, and test Live video again;
- tell me whether the result differs;
- if the image remains black, create a new bug report from 2026.9.26 and send it to me by DM.

The new option is experimental and disabled by default, so existing channels keep their current behaviour.

Hi all,

Just a quick update: due to a busy period on my end, I’ll have to slow down
active development of the app for the next two weeks. I’ll still keep an eye
on the topic and read your reports, but new test releases and detailed replies
may take a bit longer than usual.

Thanks for your patience and continued testing!

Brian

In any case, thank you very much for getting us well on our way. Take some time for yourself, and please let us know when you’re available again.

I just wanted to provide one final update. I’ve restarted the Homey Pro.

When I launch the Homey app on my iPhone and tap on the camera, I only get a black screen. The same happens on my iPad. However, on my iMac, I get an image immediately in Safari.

If I change the setting under “Playback Transport” to “Direct RTSP,” the situation remains exactly as described above. But if I go back into those settings and switch it to “Automatic,” I suddenly _do_ get an image on my iPhone and iPad (via the Homey app), but no longer on my iMac via Safari. I also get nothing on my iMac when using the Homey app—just a spinning icon and a message at the bottom saying “Loading stream…” (but nothing ever appears).

Via Dashboards, I _can_ see the camera and get a new image every 5 seconds. This works fine on my iPhone, iPad, and iMac (using both the app and Safari).

I’m completely baffled by this, but perhaps this information will be useful to you when you return. See you 😀

sadasd
Hi, I have a **Hikvision TandemVu DS-2SE3C404MWG** and I’m having an issue with the camera channels in this Homey app.

When I add/configure the camera, **only Channel 1 is available**. **Channel 2 does not appear at all** in the channel selection, even though the camera is a TandemVu model with two video channels.

I’ve attached a screenshot showing what I see in the app.

Is this a limitation of the app/ONVIF implementation, or should the second channel normally be detected as well?

Is there anything I can check or provide to help troubleshoot this?
