First, Johan, thanks for your support!
I have issues with sensitivity setting in my SML 004 Outdoor sensor. I can´t see any changes in senitivity when changing settings from 2 to 0. The sensor is too sensitive for me, reporting motion alarm too much. (Issue #670 on github) I have tried v2.1.1 and now using v2.2.0. The sensor hasn’t been used in a Hue bridge.
Any input from other SML 004 user will be useful.

Hi there, SML004 firmware before 2.85.1 has a known Hue bug affecting low sensitivity levels. I’m looking into adding OTA functionality to the app.

hihi!
I’m using the app for a long time already and its great.
Now that i’m trying to use the hold and press function from the wall modules, i’m encountering some issues. Well.. those functions are simply not working. the Release and release after hold are working well, both the others don’t. Is this an known issue?

Thanks!

Would it be possible to get firmware upgrades for hue zigbee devices via homey?

Probably not, since Hue doesn’t provide firmware files via other systems than the Hue Bridge. However, according to [this](https://forum.phoscon.de/t/how-to-update-hue-bulb-firmware/3177) post on the deCONZ forum, you can update them by pairing the lights via Bluetooth to your phone (requires unpairing from Homey). I don’t know if that still works since I use a Hue Bridge myself

O the firmware files are publicly available, I already vibecodes a poc

>
> \- \*\*\`scripts/update-zigbee-firmware.sh\`\*\*: generates \`drivers/\<id\>/driv…er.firmware.compose.json\` and \`drivers/\<id\>/assets/firmware/\*\` from \[Koenkk/zigbee-OTA\](https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee-OTA), following the \[Homey Zigbee firmware update docs\](https://apps.developer.homey.app/wireless/zigbee/zigbee-firmware-updates).
> - Downloads the index and images, verifies their sha512 and writes \`integrity\`, \`minFileVersion\`/\`maxFileVersion\` and hardware bounds.
> - Adds one update entry per \`manufacturerName\` ("Philips" and "Signify Netherlands B.V.") with the driver's productIds.
> - Adds a \`wakeInstruction\` for remotes and sensors.
> - Only the newest image per imageType is shipped. Every run replaces older firmware and removes firmware for drivers that are no longer mapped.
> - Reports Hue imageTypes that are in zigbee-OTA but missing from the map, and drivers with no mapping.
> \- \*\*\`scripts/zigbee-firmware-map.json\`\*\*: the Hue images carry no modelId, only \`manufacturerCode\` + \`imageType\`, so this file decides which images go into which driver.
> - Explicit \`drivers\` entries win. Otherwise the first matching \`rules\` entry applies (regex on the driver id and/or its \`$extends\` template).
> - New drivers therefore pick up firmware automatically. Pre-2019 hardware is excluded.
> \- \*\*\`.github/workflows/update-zigbee-firmware.yml\`\*\*: runs the script every Monday (and via \`workflow\_dispatch\`), runs \`homey app validate --level publish\`, and opens or updates a PR on \`automation/zigbee-firmware\`. New imageTypes and unmapped drivers are flagged in the PR body and as run annotations.
> \- The generated firmware for 150 drivers (~66 MB). \`/scripts/\` is added to \`.homeyignore\`.
>
> \## Why
>
> This lets Homey update Hue devices over Zigbee without a Hue Bridge, and keeps that firmware current without manual work.
>
> \## Reviewer notes
>
> \- \*\*App size\*\*: shipping every version (the full upgrade chain) would be ~350 MB, because Homey stores firmware per driver. Only the newest image is shipped (~66 MB total, \`.homeybuild\` ~88 MB). Devices below that image's \`minFileVersion\` get no update from Homey and need the Hue app first. Please check this against any App Store size limit before publishing.
> \- \*\*Mapping accuracy\*\*: these imageTypes are confirmed via the \[deCONZ OTA plugin table\](https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-ota-plugin):
> - 0x0109 (dimmer v1), 0x010D (motion sensor), 0x0115 / 0x011A (smart plug), 0x0116 (smart button)
> - 0x0119 (dimmer 2021), 0x011B (motion sensor 2022), 0x011C (wall switch module), 0x011F (Ensis), 0x0121 (tap dial)
>
> The light mappings are best guesses from the Hue hardware generation and have not been verified on real devices. A wrong mapping is harmless because Homey matches \`manufacturerCode\` + \`imageType\`, but it costs app size.
> \- \*\*Workflow setup\*\*:
> - "Allow GitHub Actions to create and approve pull requests" must be enabled in the repo settings.
> - Scheduled runs only start from the default branch.
> - PRs opened with \`GITHUB\_TOKEN\` don't trigger \`validate.yml\`, so the workflow validates the app itself.
> \- \*\*Testing\*\*:
> - \`homey app validate --level publish\` passes locally.
> - Tested locally: a new driver picked up by a rule and by the fallback, a missing imageType reported, and an older image replaced by the newest on rerun.
> - The workflow passes actionlint but has not run on GitHub yet.
> \- \`app.json\` was not regenerated in this PR; it already drifts from the compose files.

And I see johan was also already working on adding support

Hi.

I was a bit sad this morning to find all my philips hue devices offline (using without the bridge app)

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/d/c/dca138708883ad834e4ed07eddaf5a2dd5f15920.png)

tried to restart the app, but got a ‘Not installed’ message

Any idea what is going on?

Even if it already shows up in your apps list, probably an automatic update got interrupted which causes this.

Was worried that I would have to connect all the existing devices again.
But installing the app was enough. thnx.

Exactly, OTA (Firmware update via this app for Hue devices connected directly to Homey via Zigbee) is on it’s way. Thanks, I’ll have a look at your PR @Sre 🙂

### Philips Hue, without the bridge | v2.3.0 Test Release

Another update is ready for testing! Following the successful release of **2.2.1 to Live** , we’re moving forward with 2.3.0.

This release focuses on additional device support, improved sensor handling and a few stability refinements.

**What’s new in 2.3.0?**

- Added support for Hue OmniGlow lightstrips.

- Added support for Hue Flux lightstrips.

- Added Hue White A60 LWA033.

- Added Hue White Ambiance E14 P45 LTU001.

- Added Hue White A60 LWF004.

- Experimental support for the new Hue Wired Dimmer (LWM007), including standard dimming and Push/Rocker configuration.

- Improved motion/occupancy report handling.

- Improved availability recovery for selected Hue remotes based on actual incoming Zigbee traffic.

- Additional regression tests and smaller protocol improvements.

**A little help from the community**

Some of the newly added devices, particularly OmniGlow, Flux and LWM007, still need real-world hardware verification.

For OmniGlow and Flux, standard light controls are included, while native gradient functionality remains disabled until we’ve verified the behaviour on actual hardware.

For LWM007, this is an experimental first implementation. Minimum brightness and configurable dimming speed are not yet included.

If you own any of these devices, your feedback would be very much appreciated!

**Download the Test version:**

**Please keep all bug reports and device requests on GitHub:**

> **[Issues · JohanBendz/com.philips.hue.zigbee](https://github.com/JohanBendz/com.philips.hue.zigbee/issues)**
>
> Philips Hue app for Homey that uses ZigBee directly. No need for bridge. - Issues · JohanBendz/com.philips.hue.zigbee

Include your device model ID, Homey firmware version and app version when reporting a problem. A Zigbee interview is particularly helpful for device-related issues.

As always, 2.2.1 remains available in Live for anyone who prefers to stay on the stable release.

Thank you to everyone contributing interviews, reporting issues and helping test the app. We’re making good progress! 😊

For the people using the outdoor occupancy sensor where Lux and temp work fine but motion stopped working. I noticed after re-adding couple times the device battery levels reported 30% for a very short period and then shifted back to 100%. The motion part stopped functioning again after a couple minutes. Replaced the batteries and now everything works again.

Perhaps this is helpfull for someone facing the same issues. The battery level doesn’t seem to be very reliable from the sensor.
