It’s in the app store for all apps: on the apppage, look for “View change log”.

But what’s the background? Do you miss a device, or is something off?

The developer of this App is ‘missing in action’ for a year now. The last update of the app was on 22 September **2024** , the last commit on [GitHub](https://github.com/JohanBendz/com.philips.hue.zigbee) is on the same date. There are now over 100 issues open on GitHub. And the developer @johan_bendz last posted message in this community was on 9 January 2025. I sincerely hope he is fine and simply lost interest in maintaining this app.

But @Doekse, is there something Athom can do?

Because having to invest in a Hue Hub and transferring all lights to a separate Hue Zigbee-network is not something I look forward to.

</div>

We offer support for Philips Hue through the official app in the Homey App Store, which does require a Philips Hue Bridge.

I’m sure @johan_bendz would be more than happy to transfer the app to another developer, so it can be properly maintained and receive the care it deserves.

Can’t you install it as a ZigBee device. I do that with all my Hue lights.

One of the reasons I use a Homey Pro is that I want to avoid having to use an additional Hue Bridge and other hubs.

However, this dependence on single private programmers is simply too high. What @johan_bendz has achieved so far, and what may have started as a hobby, has grown enormously. At this point, I would like to thank @johan_bendz very much for his efforts! 👍
But in my opinion, this can no longer be managed by one person.

Since the **Philips Hue, without the bridge** app is ranked fourth among lighting apps, meaning that it is used by a large number of Homey Pro users, I believe Athom should definitely take action.

**Edit**
I would like to add one more thing. Without the numerous engaged community app programmers, Athom would not be where you are today. You couldn’t have done it without the community app programmers. That’s my personal opinion.

Totally get what you’re saying, and I fully agree. That’s also why we put a lot of love into supporting community developers.

That said, putting on my partnerships hat for a moment, we also need to maintain a good relationship with the folks at Signify. Slapping an official badge on an app that effectively lets users bypass the Hue Bridge would understandably rub them the wrong way, if you know what I mean 😉

</div>

I can understand that. However, Philips Hue/Signify doesn’t make its big money with the bridge, but with the lights that users buy. That’s why Philips Hue/Signify will also benefit from Johan’s app… 🤷‍♂️
Btw, the app doesn’t necessarily have to get an “official” badge; that wasn’t even mentioned.

I was talking about Hue lights (not the very old ones). For other devices I would say “give it a try”.

It’s only recognized as an unknown Zigbee device when added via the app. Zigbee works, but it would be nice if everything just worked seamlessly. I’ve read that it’s been a long time since the app was updated—hopefully it can be made to work again, as I see many people still use it.

New Zigbee models like LCG008 – Hue Essential White and Color Ambiance GU10 (Model 8720169392540, Firmware 1.126.9) and LCA016 – Hue Essential White and Color Ambiance A60 (Model 8720169392182, Firmware 1.126.9), among others, are only recognized as unknown Zigbee devices when added via the app. Zigbee works, but it would be nice if everything just worked seamlessly. Connect all your Hue lamps as unknown Zigbee devices.

You didn’t answered my question.

Zigbee lamps/lights/bulbs are supported without a special Homey app, but only the basic functions (on/off, brightness, color, temperature). Specific special functions, if available, are not supported. However, if your lamps do not have any specific special functions, then the PHWtb app is not necessary.

Btw, pls. check my post [#1178](https://community.homey.app/t/app-pro-philips-hue-zigbee-without-the-bridge/29734/1178) ff.

Thanks for your reply. It’s just a regular Philips smart bulb. Looks like what I have now does what I need. I just thought the Philips Hue app would offer a bit more. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

Hi everybody.

I bought a LightStrip v4, its get installed in homey but missing support. Homey says LCL007. Does this app not support this modell?

One more question, I am missing the feature behaviour when power is restored, this is working as it should?

Happy for any advise, thanks 🙏

Hi i am very new, so my apolagies if this might be obivius for some.

But i just got my Homey Pro and i am in de middle of converting all my Philips Hue stuff to Homey. But for some reason the battery Status & Type isn`t showing after i directly connected it to Homey via “philips hue withou the bridge”.

Does any one know how to fix this? Or does it just takes time?

PS: It`s connected via Zigbee
