Hey all,

**Nibe Live gives each job your heat pump does its own place in Homey — with separate controls, energy tracking and automation.**

It connects to your Nibe S-series directly over your local network. No myUplink account is needed for the connection, and local readings and controls keep working if your internet goes down.

👉 [Install Nibe Live](https://homey.app/en-us/app/com.nibe.local/Nibe-Live/)

## One heat pump, separate Homey devices

Heating your home and making hot water are different jobs. Nibe Live lets you see and control them that way.

| Device | What you can do |
| --- | --- |
| **Heating** | Set your room temperature, adjust the heat curve and follow indoor, outdoor and supply temperatures. Ventilation controls appear here where supported. |
| **Hot Water** | Choose demand mode, boost hot water, adjust charging temperatures and see estimated hot water available in litres. |
| **Pool** | Set your pool temperature and control pool heating with a supported accessory. |
| **Cooling** | Control cooling, night cooling and the outdoor temperature thresholds that govern it. |
| **Solar** | Follow solar production in Homey Energy with the EME 20 accessory. |
| **Main** | See what the pump is doing, change operating mode, follow total efficiency and view alarms and runtime statistics. |

Heating, hot water, pool and cooling each get their own energy tracking. Add the devices you want and choose which readings and controls they carry.

Available features depend on your model, firmware and accessories.

## Let your rooms guide the heating

**Use your pump’s own temperature sensors, or the sensors you already have in Homey.**

If you currently rely on the heat curve alone, room-temperature feedback tells the pump how warm your home actually is. You set a target temperature, and the pump uses that feedback in its own heating regulation.

You can:

- Keep a supported native temperature sensor connected to the pump.

- Choose a Homey temperature sensor in the room that matters most.

- Average several Homey sensors, with each contributing equally.

The pump keeps its own regulation and Smart Price Adaption. Selecting several rooms provides one combined temperature for the selected heating zone.

**To set it up:** open your Heating device → Repair → Heating Setup. Choose your sensors, follow the instructions for enabling and assigning the external indoor sensor on the pump, then verify and save.

Homey sensors require compatible external sensor support on the pump. Homey and the selected sensors need to stay available with valid readings. The setup has been verified on an S1155-16; support and menus vary across models.

## See where your electricity goes

How much electricity goes to hot water? How much to heating?

Nibe Live allocates electricity use according to the job the pump is doing, giving each function its own meter in **Homey Energy**. Standby consumption is allocated to Main.

You can follow:

- **Electricity used** by each function.

- **Energy delivered** , where the pump provides the counters.

- **Efficiency (COP)** — energy delivered divided by electricity used, over a rolling 30-day window.

- **Solar production** , with a supported accessory.

Per-function electricity use is an estimate. COP depends on the readings your pump provides, so some models will have fewer efficiency figures. Give it a few days to build useful history.

Add every function you want tracked separately: energy for a function you haven’t added is allocated to Main. Energy totals start when you add the devices, so they won’t match myUplink’s lifetime totals.

## Know how much hot water is available

Tank temperatures don’t always tell you whether there’s enough for another shower.

Nibe Live estimates the **litres of 40°C water available** from your tank’s temperatures and capacity. Choose your tank or configure its capacity in **Hot Water Setup**.

Use the estimate to check availability, trigger a notification when it falls below your chosen level, or start a boost through a Flow.

It’s an estimate of stored hot water, not a measurement of water flowing through your taps.

## Put prices and routines to work

Adjust Nibe’s **Smart Price Adaption** separately for each function:

| Function | Price influence |
| --- | --- |
| Heating | 1–10, with its own on/off |
| Hot water | 1–4, with its own on/off |
| Pool | 0–10; follows the master switch |
| Cooling | 0–10, with its own on/off |

The master switch lives on Main. Controls appear where supported by the pump.

Homey Flows also let you build your own routines. For example:

- Boost hot water before the household’s morning showers.

- Change the heating target when you leave or return.

- Adjust price influence at different times of day.

- Notify you when estimated hot water falls below a chosen level.

These controls adjust the pump’s existing price-adaption feature; they don’t replace its price service.

## Understand what the pump is doing

**Alarms come with descriptions.** Use the alarm Flow trigger to send yourself a notification that says what happened. The app’s Alarms page also includes NIBE’s cause-and-action guidance.

An **operating-priority change** trigger reports when the pump switches between jobs, with an explanation based on the temperatures and thresholds the app can read.

Readings, modes and writable settings are available through Flow triggers, conditions and actions. There’s also an advanced action for supplying an outdoor temperature, which requires external outdoor sensor input to be enabled on the pump.

## Getting started

For S-series, you need a compatible pump on the same network as your Homey Pro or Homey Self-Hosted Server.

1. Enable **Modbus TCP** on the pump in menu **7.5.9**.

2. Install Nibe Live and add **Nibe S-Series**.

3. Let the app find your pump, or enter its IP address.

4. Review the detected functions and choose your devices.

Return to **Repair** to change features, configure heating sensors or set up your hot-water tank.

### A few useful details

- Controls vary by model. Some pumps don’t expose a hot-water on/off switch over Modbus.

- Where available, turning Hot Water off also blocks manual boosts.

- The pump accepts one Modbus connection at a time, so another integration can interfere.

- Changing settings affects a live heating system. Use the same care as when adjusting the pump itself.

- Anonymous usage sharing is optional and off unless you enable it.

### F-series: experimental

F-series support is being tested through compatible local Modbus gateways. It has not yet been verified on live F-series hardware, and control writes depend on the gateway.

Energy allocation and COP are experimental. The allocation covers compressor and immersion-heater consumption; fans, circulation pumps and other overheads are not included.

See the [F-series setup and limitations](https://github.com/lovethyresson/com.nibe.local/blob/main/docs/f-series.md) before testing.

Hiya,

I have installed it and it looks great! Are all the modbus registers available, though, and will they be upgraded when more are made available through firmware updates? I have been looking for the used and produced energy per hour registers and saw them in the csv but couldn’t find them in the app, only total energy.

I’ve got an S2125 with a VVMS320, by the way.

I haven’t made them yet, but it comes down to produced energy/used energy. The Nibe provides these two values via Modbus for every hour for heating and hot water separately. The trick is to create the formulas to calculate the COP per day/week/month/year/all-time using these Modbus registers. With Home Assistant you can achieve this relatively simply and then show the values in Homey using the Community app, but it would be very interesting if I could do it in Homey.

Yeah, the challenge is those registers reset every hour I think, so I’d need to store the last value before it resets, but should be doable.

Hi @hyper!
This sounds like a very good initiative!
I have an F730 and would be very interested in not having to go through the Nibe MyUpLink cloud. It always feels safer to have control over things locally.
Today I use several Nibe apps in Homey to be able to read certain parameters and set certain parameters. However, all of them require access to the cloud.
So if you have the opportunity to add the F730 to your app, I am clearly interested in implementing and testing. Please, take your time - I’m not in a hurry.
Thnx!

EDIT: Sorry, I was too quick and eager. After reading further I realize that the F730 has no Modbus TCP. Only after installing the MODBUS 40 accessory - at a not entirely reasonable cost - and installing a general RS485 to Ethernet hardware. Then possibly there may be Modbus TCP…
So I get to keep the cloud and my current solution.

@Krisstenswe I’ve got a new version, but it’s stuck with homey pending the full final review of the app. Sometime next week I’d hope 🚀

@Aziraphale Hm.. a couple of things that would help me narrow it down:
My suspicion is that current power is not being allocated correctly, if so everything else will fail. Having studied this a bit more I think S2125 uses a different register for current power which would explain more or less everything.

To help me confirm:

- If you look at current power on the devices, does it show anything?
- If you look at Energy used on the devices, does it show anything?
- Which model type does it specify for you in advanced settings?

Then, after you’ve noted those things down, I’ve got a hunch 0.9.9 should fix this, so:

1. [Install 0.9.9](https://homey.app/a/com.nibe.local/test/)
2. Remove your devices
3. Pair your devices again
4. Go into debug logging and turn it on
5. Restart the Nibe Live app
6. Wait for an hour
7. Send me a diagnostic report

Thanks!

Great app @hyper ! I’ve started running it on my Homey Self Hosted instance connected to a Nibe S735. Had Claude compare the code with the work I did on device-splitting and MyUplink. Ran a couple of longer tests to validate the energy algorithm with S735 as an additional device (found your “todo”) and have posted the result as a PR: [S735 verification of the per-function energy log (2283–2303) by halderex · Pull Request #2 · lovethyresson/com.nibe.local · GitHub](https://github.com/lovethyresson/com.nibe.local/pull/2)
Just let me know if there are other things you want me to test on the S735.

Hey,

yeah I’ve been working back and fort on the S2125/320 models. They different quite substantially in register setups unfortunately. Key difference is that the instantaneous power values are so slow that my trapezoid integration just produces gibberish.

I’m currently testing a version that uses the native registers for used/produced per function, the downside instead is that they are one hour behind which ruins real time attribution which in turn means quarterly energy prices don’t work too well:/

What I’m trying now is using real time allocation based on 2305 (my S1155 uses 2166), which is slower and then reconciling that based on the full per function used/produced values. An issue being that homey does not allow correcting past values, so the only option is to try to adjust for the error in future hours.

Good catch on Smart Price Adaption btw, had not considered that.

—

Needless to say, none of these options are great, Happy to discuss alternatives 🙏

Will look at the results in more detail tomorrow.

@Aziraphale Phew .. lots of hours now, but there’s a 0.9.13 just released to test. It changes a whole bunch of things, including energy allocation logic and COP calculations (more details in release notes).

I’d love for you to give this a spin, if all works well, I’ll release this as 1.0 next week 🎉
