# \[APP\]\[Pro\] Narwal: Control for Narwal robot vacuums (test version)

Hi everyone,

I’ve built a Homey app for Narwal robot vacuums. It controls the robot **directly over your local network** , so no Narwal account is needed. If you prefer, you can switch to **Cloud mode** and sign in with your Narwal account instead (handy when the robot and Homey aren’t on the same network).

The app is waiting for Athom’s review, so for now it’s available as a **test version** only. I’m looking for testers!

This is an unofficial community app, not affiliated with Narwal.

### Features

- Start, pause, resume and stop cleaning, return to dock, and locate the robot
- Live status: battery, charging, docked, cleaning area and time, current room, errors
- Fan speed: Quiet, Standard, Strong, Super Powerful, Ultra Powerful
- Room cleaning from Flows, with room names exactly as in the Narwal app
- Cleaning settings (mode, water level, mop strength, passes, route) and a “Clean with settings” Flow card for one-off cleans
- Flow triggers, conditions and actions for automations
- **Map widget** for your dashboards: the robot’s map in the Narwal app’s room colours, room names, the dock, and the robot’s live position and cleaning path while it works (light and dark theme)
- Local by default, optional Cloud mode, no telemetry

**Cloud only** models keep their local port closed, so they always connect through your Narwal account (sign in in the app settings first). Each model’s pairing screen also shows how it connects.

Not supported: the original Narwal Freo (2021), T10 / J1 / J2, China-only models and Narwal floor washers.

If you own one of the “not tested yet” models, I’d love to hear whether it works for you!

### Getting started

1. Install the test version: [Narwal | Homey](https://homey.app/a/com.narwal.global/test/)
2. Make sure the robot is awake, then go to **Devices → Add device → Narwal** and pick your model.
3. Choose your robot from the list of robots found on your network, or enter its IP address.
4. Optional: add the **Narwal Map** widget to a dashboard.

For Cloud mode, open the app settings, choose Cloud and sign in with your Narwal account (emailed code or password; your password is never stored). Cloud replies are slower (around 20 to 30 seconds), because that’s how fast the Narwal cloud answers.

Once the app is approved, you’ll get the App Store version automatically. Your paired robots and settings stay as they are.
