Hi,

Does that mean that when they’re “off” flows using motion detection card won’t work?

Another question about the doorbell. I created a simple flow that, I assumed, would send me a message with an image snapshot, but all I get is an image of the Homey logo?

Flow

Yes when a device is off, flow with using motion detection card won’t work

Regarding the doorbell, I don’t have the hardware, but as far as I know (based on feedback from other users), this event doesn’t work. Since I don’t have the hardware, it’s difficult for me to fix it. That probably explains why the image isn’t correct, as it has never been updated. If I remember correctly, it was just a test image for this specific case.

Thanks for your reply.

The camera cards have a similar problem.

When the camera “Motion Detected” card is triggered, it creates an “Event snapshot” image tag. If I use that tag to send an image to my phone in a push notification, it only sends and displays the Homey logo. However, if I use the “Live snapshot” tag from the same camera, I receive an actual snapshot showing the camera’s current view.

The doorbell device doesn’t have a “Live snapshot” tag like the cameras do. It only has the “Ring snapshot” generated by the “Call button pressed” card.

So, with cameras there are two image tags: one generated by the card that doesn’t work, and one provided by the device itself that does work. With the doorbell, there’s only the image tag generated by the card.

I’m not sure if this information is helpful and already known to you, but perhaps the doorbell could expose another snapshot tag, similar to “Live snapshot” on the cameras?

Hello, I’ll be on vacation in a week, so I might find some time to take a look. I tested it at home, and it works fine.

Is your camera connected directly, or is it connected through an NVR?

Hi,

The camera is on the NVR. The image tag “Event Snapshot” that is generated by the “Motion Detected” card returns a Homey logo image. The other “Live Snapshot” image tag that is generated by the camera device itself returns an actual snapshot. So the card image tag is basically a dummy. At this point I’m using the card as a flow trigger, but I’m actually sending myself an image generated by the camera device, not the image generated by the card (“Event Snapshot”). Hope this explains it better.

Enjoy your holiday!

Cheers,
Alex

Hello,

I just tested with a camera connected to an NVR and with a camera connected directly.

In both cases, the image is correctly displayed in the tag. The only time I get the Homey icon instead of the image is when I manually trigger the flow for testing, not when I trigger a real event by walking in front of the camera.

In your camera settings, are they configured to use **push** or **pull**?

You are absolutely correct. The area I was testing is not visited frequently by anyone so I did just manual trigger testing. I actually walked there today and the “Event Snapshot” worked and sent a proper snapshot, not the Homey logo. 👍🏼

Works for me with a simple flow like this, both line and area (field) detection. Double check it’s actually enabled/check-marked on your NVR for that specific camera(?)

Yes, there are many of them, but it obviously depends on the capabilities of your equipment.

That’s also one of the reasons why I prefer using a tag rather than creating a dedicated flow for each type of event.

I’ve just pushed a new version that should be ready for the App Store live release.

Unfortunately, I had to change the app name, which means that your existing devices will no longer work. You’ll need to delete and recreate them.

Sorry about that, but unfortunately, these are Homey’s rules.

Hello,

Some people have asked me to add two features for the doorbell:

- Receive a notification when the doorbell button is pressed

- Receive a notification when a relay is triggered

Apparently, these events are not available through ISAPI, which is the protocol currently supported by my driver.

Unfortunately, I don’t own a doorbell myself, so I’m unable to analyze the network traffic and figure out how these events are actually sent.

If anyone has a doorbell and can capture/analyze the network traffic when:

1. the doorbell button is pressed, and

2. a relay is triggered,

I would be happy to add support for it.

Without someone providing this analysis, I’m afraid I’m stuck on this one. Sorry!

In the meantime, I will make another attempt to get the app validated and published on the Homey App Store.

I think the doorbell button press detection should be working now.

If someone can confirm, I’ll push the app to production.
