# Graph Widgets

Small, clean bar-chart widgets for your Homey dashboard, built on top of Homey Insights.

**Test version:** [Graph Widgets | Homey](https://homey.app/a/com.msd.graph/test/)

## Why I made this

I wanted a way to get **small and easy-to-create graphs** for my Insights data on the dashboard. I don’t want to build a graph by hand for every value, or write flows that store data somewhere else. Homey already records the history in Insights, so this app just reads it and draws it.

The idea is: add the widget, pick a metric, done. No flows, no virtual devices, no extra logging.

## What it does

- Shows the history of **any suitable Insights metric** as a bar chart: energy, water, distance, temperature, …
- Four time ranges:
  - **Day** – by hour
  - **Month** – by day
  - **Year** – by month
  - **All** – by year

- Optional **period switcher** in the widget, so you can flip between Day / Month / Year / All straight on the dashboard
- Shows the summary values (total / average / max / last) for the selected period
- Widget height of **1, 2 or 3 tiles**
- Optional **custom chart title** (the metric name is used if you leave it empty)
- **25+ colors** to choose from, so you can colour-code your charts (e.g. yellow for solar, blue for water, red for temperature)
- Light and dark theme support
- Negative values are supported (e.g. outdoor temperature)
- Works on Homey Pro (local app)

### How values are displayed

- **Counters** (kWh, Wh, l, m³, km) are shown as the **amount per period** (e.g. kWh per hour, per day, per month).
- **Temperature and flow rates** (l/min, l/h) are shown as the **average per period**.
- Insights logs that are already aggregated per period (e.g. “Power by the Hour”) or that only hold state values are **not offered** , so you only get charts that make sense.

## How to set it up (step by step)

1. Install the app from the test link above.

2. Open the **Homey app** or the web app and go to **Dashboards**.

3. Open the dashboard you want and tap **Edit** (pencil icon).

4. Tap **Add widget** and choose **Graph Widgets → Graph**.

5. In the widget settings, tap **Insight metric** and search for your device, app or metric (for example _Energy_, _Water_, _Temperature_). Pick the one you want.

6. _(Optional)_ Set a **Chart title**. If you leave it empty, the name of the metric is used.

7. Choose the **Widget height** (1, 2 or 3 tiles).

8. Choose the **Default view** :

9. Tick **Show period switcher** if you want to change the range directly on the dashboard.

10. Pick a **Graph color**.

## Notes

- A chart can only show what Insights has recorded. If a metric was only just created, you will see **“No data yet”** until it has some history.
- If you see **“Please select an Insight metric in widget settings”** , the widget has no metric selected yet. Open its settings and pick one.
- The app only **reads** Insights, devices and apps. It does not change anything on your Homey.

## Feedback

This is a test version, so I would love to hear:

- which metrics don’t show up but you expected them to,
- which ranges, colors or options you are missing,
- any bugs or layout problems on your dashboard (please include a screenshot and the metric you used).

If you like the app, you can support me via the PayPal link on the app page. Thank you!
