Integrating the Franklin Whole Home energy management system into Homey.

Great to see you took the initiative to develop this app, thank you!

I recently installed it and am trying to figure out how to create a flow around power outages.

I want to create a flow when grid power is off during the middle of the night when we are sleeping, turn a/c to a specific temp, and turn on fans (if aren’t already on). However, if the grid power comes back on during that same time frame, basically undo what was done when the grid power turned off.

With the provided cards I am struggling with the when power comes back on part. I can’t use WHEN grid power on because grid power should always be on, I only want to create a flow in the event of grid power off THEN on.

Is there a way to leverage the ‘Imported power greater than’ cards in the AND state? This way I could create a flow of WHEN power is off AND listen for grid power flowing back in, THEN do stuff. Maybe I am making it more complicated than it needs to be.

I hope I described my scenario correctly.

The grid power on and grid power off cards should only trigger when the state changes; so the power turns on or the power turns off. Perhaps I should rename them to make that more clear.

I just tested this flow, by manually shutting off my grid power, and it is not working. I got the notification of grid power loss from my Franklin app, but the flows didn’t trigger. I can’t really get more straightforward than this.

@Tim_Wilkinson as developer of this app can you provide some insight into what I am experiencing please?

</div>

Well this is odd. I did test this on my home and, at least then, it worked just fine. I’ll retest it next time I have the house to myself and a little time.
I quickly checked the code and it should be working. There might be a bit of a delay as it has to poll the Franklin service for the info. I assume your Internet and wifi stays up when your pulling the power?

Yes, everything stays up and running when pulling the main power. It’s not just the grid power on and off cards though. Almost all the other cards don’t work either, or as expected, which wouldn’t require you to pull your main power.

Cards also not working:

Okay. Here’s a new test version - [Franky | Homey](https://homey.app/en-us/app/org.xojs.franky/Franky/test/) - if you could try it out, that’d be lovely.

Excellent, happy to help test! Just installed the test version provided this morning. To perform just a basic test I am using this flow.

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/1/6/165dec976cd784c2651dbe2456401e2f0e8677a5.png)

Then I am opening my Franklin app and changing the mode from Self-Consumption to Emergency Backup. What’s strange is, that it shows the mode change in the Homey App that reflects the mode I changed it to in my Franklin app, but it didn’t trigger the flow when the mode changed.

Well I can believe I still have that messed up because it’s one of my flows rather than a generic one of Homeys. Do any of the “energy \> X” ones work now?

Test scenario:

- Created the flow below
- Franklin app showed export of 1.2 kW
- I reduced consumption which then bumped the export up to 1.5kW
- Flow did not trigger

Flow created:

- Confirmed I have version 1.2.3
- Restarted Franky app

Retested the mode flow, and is still not triggering. I can see it change mode in Homey UI with a 5ish second delay, but doesn’t trigger the flow.

The exported energy flow isn’t working either. I setup an additional ‘Exported Energy becomes less than X kWh’ as well.

I can confirm that other flows, outside of Franky flows, I have setup to send critical messages work as expected.

Okay. New version. I switched from flow trigger cards to device flow trigger card and that seems to have fixed my mode change test which uses a custom card. I’m still unclear why the Homey generic cards dont work though.

Can confirm that operation mode switch is now triggering that flow. Air high five!

Can also still confirm that Exported Energy becomes less than.. and Exported Energy becomes greater than… don’t work.
