Can you share what you did to get the ratgdo board to work in homey?. I have been messing with the thing for months, and still nothing, When I try to configure it in ESPHome Controller, it is asking for an encryption key. Asking chat gpt leads me to think I need a custom yaml file to flash to the board. What were you able to do? I reached out to ugrbnk and he suggested I reach out to you. tyia

There’s a ratgdo device in Esphome Controller Now. Did you upgrade the ratgdo to the latest firmware?

Hi @ugrbnk - first of all I wanted to say that this has been working fantastically with my Neewer lights! Thank you!

I am now attempting to add control of a USB hub using a remote control wired to the GPIO pins. I can add the first button, but I don’t get the choice of multiple buttons like I do on the lights after your fix. Is there a fix that needs replicating to that device type? Thanks!

Oh and I notice the device add jumps the first page where there are multiple devices - that’s a great usability improvement 🙂

Here is my current yaml

The “EspHome Device” seems to connect fine, it shows a red triangle when I turn my ESP32 off, and triangle disappears when turned on.

But device does not show any sensor values, only “Signal Strength” which is “-” (and updated “56 years ago" 🙂 ) despite being WiFi-connected). Do I need anything extra in my .yaml for the sensor?

```auto
sensor:
  - platform: hx711
    name: “Beehive”
    dout_pin: 14
    clk_pin: 23
    gain: 128
    update_interval: 1s
    unit_of_measurement: “kg”
I made the corrections. I would appreciate it if you could test it and let me know the result.
Great, now it shows the weight thanks! A little rounding would make it neater.
(Updated: rounding could be managed in .yaml - “accuracy\_decimals: 1”).
”Weight” does not show up under Insights though.
Unfortunately for my issue, it still jumps past the stage to select a specific entity of type button. I note that entity key has now appeared as a config param when adding a button though - don’t think that was there before.
I can confirm that the adding works when entity key is manually specified, so (as I’m sure you’ve already deduced) it looks like it’s just the discovery logic. Thanks!
Happy to confirm the discovery now works as expected - great stuff @ugrbnk! A complete non-rush but at some point it would be great to be able to add multiple devices at once, or for the app to remember the IP and encryption key, or similar so it is quicker to add multiple entities.
But fantastic that it now does discovery for buttons too 🙂 Thank you again!
The suggestion to add multiple devices and remind users of connection details makes a lot of sense from a user experience perspective. However, since Homey’s core pairing infrastructure is currently built around a single device addition onboarding procedure, allowing multiple selections in the interface would require an infrastructure update.
Yes, I tried to link my device to that option in Esphome Controller. That is where I was asked for IP address, encryption key and password. The encryption key is what I don’t have.
Yes, I updated my device to the latest firmware dated 2026.2.22
FYI I added a BME280 temp/humid sensor to my ESPHome board as well, and the values popped right up. Awesome, thanks for your work!
The only thing now is that there is no Insight for the weight sensor (but I bet you can fix that too 😉)
v1.0.146 — Stability & Bug Fixes
• Fixed critical ReferenceError in garage door driver that blocked all state updates
• Fixed memory leak in 7 drivers caused by event listeners stacking on reconnection
• Fixed lock driver: lock/unlock commands were silently failing (missing lockCommand)
• Fixed light brightness scaling (0–1 Homey value was not converted to 0–255 for ESPHome)
• Fixed Flow card error reference causing incorrect diagnostic messages
• Improved connection pool logging consistency
• Removed unreachable code blocks and unused variables for cleaner internals
