I mean the DS configuration (selection of fields to be used in dashboards). What happens with selected fields of a removed device?

> [@Satoer](#):

> it needs to know how many columns there are in the markdown

I send this as a flow variabele to the Markdown dash, and I don’t see variable column settings:

```auto
| ico | tijd | bericht |
| :---: | :--- | :--- |
| !\[|40x40|#FFB300\](https://api.iconify.design/mdi/window-shutter.svg) | 17:13 | Screens voor wind |
| !\[|40x40|#00B300\](https://api.iconify.design/mdi/window-shutter.svg) | 15:56 | Screens voor OK |
```

When I paste this as text (not a variable) in a dash Markdown itself, then there is variabele columns setting (new Markdown).
That’s what I don’t understand.

My first impressions now

- reverse flow & flow visible in the arrow widget now works.
- Loading a 1 page dashboard in th editor takes about 2-3 seconds in Chrome on a Windows PC with Ryzen 7 cpu. First the flow are very rough (the color is just jumping from left to right), one second later they start flowing smoothly.
- Loading the viewer (Fully Kiosk) on a very old tablet (Samsung A8 or something) takes about 10 seconds, but once loaded runs just fine.
- Loading the viewer on a shiny new Fold8 (Fully Kiosk) takes about 2-3 seconds
- Loading the editor in Chrome on Android, (Fold 8) stil hides the dashboard behind the editor. The same thing happens in Chrome on Windows if you make the window very small.
Is that a big problem? Not for me, as editing a dashboard with touch-screen is very hard, i just use it occasionaly to adapt something quickly.
It no longer flickers and touch-functionality has improved in my opinion
- Dashboards that are too large now load centered, thus partially off screen. Before they loaded top-left aligned, which I used conveniently to show the same dashboard on a regular tablet and a more rectangular fold 8. (Some widgets are visible on both the right-side and the bottom side) The bottom row visible on the fold and the right column visble on the tablet…
I can’t use it that way anymore

Just the things I noticed right now. Thanks for al the effort, you’re still doing a great job!

Thanks for the review, @Bert_Onraedt. I’ll get back to that later, and I’ll try to get my hands on an Android tablet as well.

I just pushed v2.0.6. This release was purely focused on bringing loading times down, along with a few other improvements. After looking over some results from @Amersfoort, it’s definitely a huge step up. It opens dashboards twice as fast as v2.0.5, and from my own testing, it is even faster than v1.

Fingers crossed I didn’t break anything in the process. 🙏 Thanks for helping test, everyone!

Just noticed something else.

Ik took a screenshot of my test-dashboard, so please don’t look at the lay-out 😇

Chrome - Windows 11 - Full screen - editor

The Dashboard Canvas is larger then the available space in the Chrome-window, next to the editor.

The dashboard disappears slightly behind the Quick-Toolbar in auto-hide modus.

From the moment you scroll down in the editor, so the toolbar pops up, I can not select the widgets that are partially covered by that toolbar anymore.

You can, however, select them if you start drawing a selection from next to them.

I think the main focus here should be to avoid the dashboard disapearing behind the editor. If you want us to make (almost-)fullscreen browser startpages using Dashboard Studio, we should be able to edit the full page 🤣

# NEW TEST Release: [Dashboard Studio V2.0.7](https://homey.app/a/com.satoer.dashboardstudio/test/)

- Fixed: Graph Labels - Axis labels are no longer cut off.
- New: Make All Dynamic Values Fixed - Tools can keep the current value of every topic-linked setting.
- Improved: Page Switching - Other pages are cached in the background, so opening them is faster.
- New: Edit Mode Zoom Slider - Scale the dashboard 20% - 200% in edit mode.
- Improved: Horizontal Scrolling - When the dashboard sits behind the editor, you can scroll until the left side is fully visible.
- Couple of smaller bug fixes.

## New: Make All Dynamic Values Fixed

There is a new script available in the Tools dropdown.

 ![afbeelding](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/7/9/7903632df17f224924b457416d669ac1ce544eaa.jpeg)
When executed, it copies all current dynamic data directly into the setting and disables the dynamic binding. It is mainly a tool to help me debug issues when users share their dashboards with me. Since I cannot see the live data populating the dashboard, those dashboards often appear completely empty on my end, making debugging harder to do and understand. This script takes care of that.

## Improved: Page Switching

Performance update. When the first page loads, other pages are cached in the background. Because of this, pages loaded with lots of widgets now open a lot quicker. Also improved the overall dashboard performance.

## New: Edit Mode Zoom Slider / Improved: Horizontal Scrolling

I improved how large, high resolution dashboards behave on smaller screens.

 ![afbeelding](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/c/d/cd6ddb817a0fc82cf4296c9584fb272150c6fee6.jpeg)
Fixed resolution dashboards are still aligned from the center, but the scrollbars now let you scroll anywhere without getting blocked by the editor.
There is also a new “Edit mode zoom” slider:
 ![afbeelding](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/0/9/0950a025e1159e4845838fa4650ef3b9c66b0664.jpeg)
This scales the dashboard so you can fit it completely inside the editor view while still have all edit capabilities. This is only active while the editor is open and will not affect the dashboard in normal viewing mode.

@Bert_Onraedt Can you check if the issues on the Fold are sorted out now? Do you actually edit dashboards on the Fold, or are you just viewing and using them there? Also, have you tried using the “Scale to fit Screen” layout mode?

I can not seem to recreate this problem. A dynamic “true” to that setting reverses the flow direction in my testing. Are you sure you did not put an inverting binding option on that setting?

In the meantime, I had already solved it for myself by using binding options.

I’ve encountered something new in v2.0.7. Here’s how to reproduce it:

- step 1: On page 1, I have an image and a button. The image is not visible. I use the button to navigate to page 2.
- step 2: On page 2, I press a button to return to page 1.
- step3: The image is now visible (partially?); this applies not only to images, but I have also seen this with text objects.

Step 1

- if a variable widget label for an image has a value of 0, it is not displayed.

Okay, But if the code is wrong, I rather fix it then that users need to use workarounds 😅
But like I said, it seems to be working on my end and I cant reproduce the problem.

Thanks, I’ll check this out.

The performance updates have been working really well overall. Basically I am trying to eliminate all unnecessary steps. if something doesn’t need to update, skip it.

The downside is it makes the logic a lot more complicated. Instead of just blindly updating everything, I now have to track exactly what changed. That gets tricky with edge cases, especially when a setting changes secondary options that affect other widgets are easy to miss.

So the bug reports are super helpful, thanks guys.

All I can say is that the arrows point in a different direction in v2.0 compared to v1.7 when using dynamic values. I can’t really judge whether my setup is or was correct, though. I haven’t seen any other comments on this yet.

I think I have (too?) many SVG’s, json graphs, external icons, markdown tables. For memory reasons these should be cleared during a page switch, but for performance reasons not. However, paradoxically, the app is temporarily faster after a restart.

Do not focus on performance score. Like I said, it does not hold in account the size of the dashboard, only the loading speed (And it is an internal tool 😅 ). So a large dashboard always has a low performance score. Also the extra caching of widgets gives the system extra work to do while starting up, but in my testing the overall performance was a lot snappier when the dashboard was in use. (and it did not affect the startup too much). Your dashboard has a shit-ton of custom svg’s with all kinds of custom effects and animation, so yeah, this will probably affect the performance (besides the +30 pages 😅 )

I am trying to explore your dashboard, but it is hard to see everything, since I do not have all the dynamic bindings. None of the values are populated. As a matter of fact, I added this script especially for your creations 😅

Can you run your dashboard, let everything populate (explore the pages etc) and then bake all the dynamic settings inside the dashboard. [And send it to me](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/support.php)?

I really like the fact formulas have been added to the Text widget. Thank you!

I’m using it a lot, e.g. in

`{{airco-lsk-/measure_temperature}}°C :ph-arrow-right|{{if({{airco-lsk-/measure_temperature}}<{{airco-lsk-/target_temperature}},#FF0000,#0000FF)}}: {{airco-lsk-/target_temperature}}°C`

However, I do not know how to achieve selecting different icons, e.g. by using the following

`{{if({{topic/path}},:ph-icon1:,:ph-icon2:)}}`

or

`{{if({{topic/path}},![alt|16|@overlay](https://api.iconify.design/ph/icon1.svg),![alt|16|@icon](https://api.iconify.design/ph/icon2.svg))}}`

Both do not work. Am I overlooking the way to do this?

Hi, Thanks for the excellent dashboard tool which I am trying to learn.

I have three questions about graphing. The demo does not show it so I have to ask here for help.

1. I want to draw a power consumption chart with X as time axis (see example on the screenshot from the Homey app I am trying to emulate).

I get streaming live data from a sensor, say 12 times/minute. The dashboard manages to display the graph from the live data just fine, but it doesn’t show time label on X axis. I have played with different settings on the X-axis: set X-Axis format to Hours; Hours/minutes; etc, 24 hours, Convert UTC to local time but still no time shown.

1. Is it possible to have different buttons to select different time intervals dynamically (e.g., last hour, last 6 hours, etc, Hourly, Daily etc)?
2. I understand that the buffer is max 4000 datapoints, so with one data point/5 sec → I can only display the last 5 hours?

Also, in tables, strange things are happening:

```auto
| | |
| :--- | ---: |
| :ph-drop-half-bottom: | {{sensor/measure_humidity}}% |
| :ph-sun-dim: | {{sensor/measure_luminance}} lx |
| :ph-thermometer-simple: | {{sensor/measure_temperature}}°C |
```

This shows in the editor it knows about left and right aligned, by selecting the proper icon, but it is not shown in the table (the texts are not right aligned):

![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/6/e/6e28f1f4f54c5c67b93c69d6960b51482a7ae7a7.png)

With the following different things go wrong:

```auto
| | |
| :--- | ---: |
| ![alt|16|@icon](https://api.iconify.design/ph/drop-half-bottom.svg) | {{sensor/measure_humidity}}% |
| ![alt|16|@icon](https://api.iconify.design/ph/thermometer-simple.svg) | {{sensor/measure_temperature}}°C |
The editor does not know the left and right aligned anymore, even though the larger icons are shown:
We are talking about the “Reverse flow direction” setting, right? When this is made dynamic and bound to a topic, setting it to “true” reverses the flow. The arrow points the other way, the colors change, and the flow animation runs in that direction too. In all my tests, it seems to work as expected. I even checked DS V1 thinking maybe that version was inverted by mistake, but it seems to behave the exact same way.
The [demo page on page 18](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/demo/editor.html?page=18) has a lot of examples showing how to use formulas to switch colors, text, or icons based on a dynamic value (just try moving the slider).
You just need to wrap the icon names in quotes:
`{{if({{topic/path}},":ph-icon1:",":ph-icon2:")}}`
I just did a quick test:
It seems to render the timestamps from Insights data just fine on the X axis. Are you running Dashboard Studio V1 or the new V2 test build?
> [@Hiep\_Hoang](#):
> I get streaming live data from a sensor, say 12 times/minute. The dashboard manages to display the graph from the live data just fine, but it doesn’t show time label on X axis.
Ah, yes, it indeed does not add timestamps when streaming live data. Just to be sure: you have connected a dynamic topic that just sends a changing single value, right? Not full Insights graph JSONs. If so, it currently does not attach timestamps to those incoming values. Displaying timestamps was originally requested by another user specifically for Insights data, so I never implemented it for raw streaming values. You are the first to mention this haha, I will add it in an upcoming release.
> 1. Is it possible to have different buttons to select different time intervals dynamically (e.g., last hour, last 6 hours, etc, Hourly, Daily etc)?
Yes, that is definitely possible. You can add a few buttons and set a topic in the “Output Topic” field for each one, such as graph\_hour, graph\_day, or graph\_year. Then create a flow in Homey like this:
 ![afbeelding](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/7/6/760e7d88295295603c5fe61f95f9d610d90461f6.png)
> [@Hiep\_Hoang](#):
> 1. I understand that the buffer is max 4000 datapoints, so with one data point/5 sec → I can only display the last 5 hours?
If I recall correctly, the limit when sending Insights graphs is 500 datapoints sampled across the selected time period. For streaming data, I do not recall setting a hard limit, though I could be wrong 😅. But do you really need a graph with a higher resolution of more than 500 datapoints?
> This shows in the editor it knows about left and right aligned, by selecting the proper icon, but it is not shown in the table (the texts are not right aligned):
Hmmm, that seems to work on my end:
But this is running on an unreleased 2.0.8 build where I resolved several other bugs as well. Could you test this again once 2.0.8 is out, likely tomorrow?
You can check the next settings in your Text/Markdown object:
- Text settings → Horizontal alignment: the setting should be “Use Typography Settings”
## Call to Action
Two weeks ago, the Dashboard Studio developer released a major new update as a v2 test version. It is clear that a great deal of his effort, time, and care has gone into the continued development of this app.
It is currently still a test version, allowing for the incorporation of both functional and technical feedback before the release goes into production.
Many Dashboard Studio users have already installed the initial version of this program. As an enthusiastic user, I would appreciate it if we could provide the developer with as much feedback as possible, covering not just bugs, but also feature requests and ideas. Right now, however, user feedback has been limited.
The new version is already working quite well, so there is no need to be concerned about using it.
Please share your feedback!
The scrollbar in the edit window is a welcome addition for the smaller screen. Although the most-left widgets still hide partially under the quick-toolbar and can not be selected when in the first approx 50px from that toolbar.
Also the zoom-option is a nice extra.
No I don’t often use (any) touchscreen device for editing. Just for a quick tweak now and then. In my opinion a touch-device is not the right tool for editing a dashboard.
The flickering still occasionaly occurs in Chrome, not in Fully Kiosk.
Performance has improved (on the Fold it now only takes like 2 seconds to load from scratch), but on the old table it still takes +10 seconds.
I don’t have the problem with the arrows… After the bug in 2.0.3 (i think) it now works smoothly as it was before.
I didn’t try the ‘repsonsive’ dashboard size yet. I tried it for a moment when it first was available but it doesn’t look good so quickly reverted back.
I had a busy summer, but now my colleagues have all returned from vacation and I can go back to my lazy-person routine. I might have more time to perform some tests now 😀
Many thanks for the fantastic app. I try to keep up with and test the new versions as much as possible. I am currently using version 2.0.7. I’ve noticed that the binding options for visibility aren’t working correctly in this version. When opening the page for the first time, all the lights are off and only the text is displayed; that works as expected (Fig. 1). When I turn on a light, the text disappears and the slider appears; that also works correctly (Fig. 2). However, if I navigate to another page and then return, both the text and the slider are displayed, even though no lights are on. In version 1.11.7, and in any case also in version 2.0.4, this still worked well.
The first item did the trick. No idea why this changed, but it is solved now. Thanks!
I’ll check my settings, but indeed the arrow issue is about the reverse flow direction when made dynamic, for me at least.
I should have looked at the examples! 😳 Will do next time.
Thanks for making this explicit. Saves me the time of looking at the examples. 😉
@Amersfoort solved the issue with the table for me.
As usual, many thanks!
