Ah yes I indeed hide as many useless options as possible when a configuration is chosen but the dimensions and coordinates should definitely not be hidden 😅 I shall fix that. Thanks Bert.

I already was used to the alternative method: make it visible, move the button, and then make it invisible again. But this is much easier, thanks!

I don’t get it Jean, invisible buttons are visible with their outline when the editor is open right?

 ![afbeelding](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/e/d/edb2bd89722ce60500c84a76696cbf6aeadc36fa.jpeg)
You can move and scale them easily with the drag handles.

Just to be clear: We are talking about buttons where the “Visual Style” is set to “invisible” Right? (and not where the “Visibility” is set to “Disabled”

Hi Michel,

Correct. The picture you show is indeed the frame I always see in editor mode, regardless of whether the button is set to visible or invisible. However, when it is set to invisible, you no longer see, for example:

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/6/c/6c24fcd043a5aa0324d633feaab840dec69e41da.png)

I like pixel perfect ;-).

Best regards, Jan

# NEW Dashboard Studio V1.11.7 Stable Release

- Fixed: Switch and Button Invisible style no longer hides the Layout & Dimensions panel; Padding is hidden, while X, Y, Width, and Height stay available.
- Fixed: Dashboard Environment - Hold to Activate Duration now shows the default value.

This has been fixed. The Layout & Dimensions now stay visible when the “Visual Style” is set to “Invisible” 👍

# **IMPORTANT!**

@everybody: This is probably the last update for V1. Sometime over the next few days, I will likely drop the new V2 version for you to test out. Even though it is running perfectly fine and stable on my end, and I haven’t run into any conversion issues with older dashboards, V2 is still a massive update with a ton of big changes.

Because I am the only one who has tested it so far, there are bound to be edge cases I didn’t foresee or run into myself. So if you are currently running the test branch in a production environment and really cannot afford any downtime (like @Martijn_C who uses it as an infographic display in his fitness club), now is definitely the time to switch over to the stable branch. Just remember to back up your important files locally first!

For everyone else who doesn’t have a mission-critical setup, I truly appreciate all of you testing this early so the eventual transition to stable V2 goes as smoothly as possible. 🙂

Thinking further, it would be nice not to only allow for values to be returned, but also select different icons based on if-expressions. For instance, (value?icon1:icon2). Or select a color, e.g. a temperature-related color (value\>20?red:blue). Many options, but also many design-decisions to be taken.

The color is already possible. There are binding options inside every color swatch. Make it dynamic and do something like this

 ![afbeelding](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/0/e/0e4b74e7313150f6486e5f47713e707fb03ba95d.png)
This will change a 0 - 100 value to green - blue - red
Not (yet) possible for icons though

Depending on what you want to achieve, this can easily be done with scripts/flows/variables. 0
I use this for the weather, for instance. The Homeyscript returns a ph-icon name (ph-cloud, ph-cloud-rain,…), which is linked to the icon-widget…
For my ‘dumb’ washing machine, i measure the power using a Shelly PM and a flow gives the right color (gray, blue, green) to an icon…

@Satoer Can’t wait for the v2. NOT changing to the stable version… what’s the fun in that, right? 😀 🤣

I see that I am not clear with what I mean. I know about the options for color and for the separate icons. I am looking for this to control _in text widgets_. There I can add a lot of stuff in one go, but am not able to control the size and color of icons, nor can I use a calculation (e.g. to show the difference between two values). I know, I can add such calculations in Homey itself, as a variable, but that is a hassle, and I rather have less of that … 😃

Hi @Satoer ,

I noticed another strange thing with the button behaviour.

I’ve got a few buttons that send a local/topic with 1 or 0, which I use in other widgets to make them visible when the button is pushed. I set the initial state to ‘disabled’ (under actions & behaviour).

Works like a charm, works as expected, me happy.

But then when I continue editing the dashboard, without making changes to that specific button, suddenly this state is set to ‘enabled’. I didn’t find out exactly when this occures, but I had it happen quite some times now.
It’s off course not a big deal, It’s only an issue the first time when reloading a dashboard. You have to press the button twice to activate… This ‘bug’ is present quite some time, I think. Since it’s only noticed the first time after reloading.. in the beginning i tought i forgot to save or something. But I was editing the widget that has to appear when pressing the button, so reloading after each ‘save’… it’s happened a few times 🙂

While editing and testing that dashboard, did you press that button by any chance? Pressing it actually toggles the state setting inside the button itself, so when you save the dashboard, it saves with that new state.

I totally get why that’s annoying. Sometimes I’ll edit the demo dashboard on a specific page, save and ship it, only to realize later that the demo now opens right on that page. Maybe I should set it up so only things edited directly inside the editor persist when saving. It’s a tough call though, since I also want to see the button’s actual state reflected in the settings 😅

That’s **very** probable… I was trying different things to reproduce this _not-a-bug_ on purpose, but I couldn’t.

After reading your comment, I tried again and did exactly that: Leaving edit-mode in the browser to quickly try something =\> clicking the button (hence state = on) =\> Going back to edit mode without clicking again…and yep, that’s it.

I was editing a text-field that pops up when clicking the invisible button, so with each minor edit, i tried & clicked… 🤣

Thanks once more for your quick reply and insight !

Feature request: would it posible to have a clock of type Date Time Text with two digits for the month? That way I can display a bunch of dates and times that are neatly aligned. Probably that is needed for the date too, but I do not see that currently 🙂
BTW, no hurry, v2 is more important 😉

Why do you want multiple date and times below each other if I may ask? 🤔 😅

</div>

Mmm. I didn’t think properly, I suppose. 🙄 This is not a requirement for a clock (to have multiple ones, although I could make up a use case showing multiple clocks with different time zones). No, when I want a list of Dates and TImes, that would be static. Yet, I am used to have two digits for the month and date, as that aligns nice in lists (e.g. in Windows Explorer) and having this for the clock as well prevents layout shifts when going to 1 or to 10. So those are the real reasons.

Ah, yes I understand. Multiple time zones of course. 😅
Yes I can do that (the leading 0). You probably need a monospace font to get it exactly below each other.

Yet another thought: would it be nice to have the option of automatic scrolling text when it does not fit its space? There are already nice animations when the contents changes, so this may be feasible. Of course, an interesting thought is how to deal when text is both horizontally and vertically too large. One way of dealing with that is to have two flags, one for automatic horizontal scrolling and one for vertical.

Again, I really like what you’ve done so far, so much appreciated, all the effort. Still mostly playing around, trying to think of proper dashboards, which is not that easy at all …

# NEW TEST Release: [Dashboard Studio V2.0](https://homey.app/nl-nl/app/com.satoer.dashboardstudio/Dashboard-Studio/test/)

Yes, it is finally here… Dashboard Studio V2 is officially ready for testing! A tremendous amount of work has gone into this release with lots of new features. Still need some polishing, but I think it is good enough for everyone who wants to test it.

If you run into any issues or bugs during testing, please be as detailed as possible in your feedback. A step-by-step walkthrough on how to recreate the problem, along with details about your device and browser, would be greatly appreciated and will help get them sorted out quickly.

#### New Features

- **Modern Editor Interface and Full Tablet Touch Support**

- **Quick Toolbar**
When scrolling down a tall widget settings panel, common actions used to be out of reach. The Quick Toolbar is a compact button rail that docks to the edge of the screen or floats anywhere on the canvas. It slides out automatically when the main toolbar scrolls away, keeping buttons like Undo, Redo, Copy, Paste, Delete, and Layering immediately accessible. And quick access to all pages.

- **Reset Canvas and New Dashboard Setup Wizard**
Starting a new dashboard no longer drops you onto a blank canvas.[Clicking Reset Canvas](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Homey%3A+The+Complete+Guide#step-2-canvas-and-connection) opens a visual setup wizard that walks through selecting the preferred Editor Mode, Layout Mode, and starting Theme with preview cards before opening the editor.

- **Basic and Advanced Editor Modes**

- **Three [Dashboard Layout Modes](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Layout+Modes)(Fixed Resolution, Scale to Fit Screen, Responsive Columns)**

- **[Widget Presets](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Widgets&widget=presets)**

- **Dashboard Audio System and Sound Effects**

- **In-App [Audio Gallery Manager](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Audio+Gallery)**

- **Theme Explorer**

- **[Widget Preset Editor Tool](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Tools&widget=widget-preset-editor)**

- **Switch and Button [Confirmation Dialogs](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Widgets&widget=dialog-box)**

- **Editor Tools Menu and [Set Link Open Behavior](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Tools&widget=set-link-open-behavior)**

- **Menu Widget [Batch Add Weblinks](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Widgets&widget=menu#3-menu-items)**

#### Improvements

- **Dashboard Performance and Viewer Mode**
The dedicated viewer mode (viewer.html) was completely rebuilt for pure speed on low-power wall tablets. It strips out all editor code and demand-loads only the scripts for widgets actually placed on the dashboard. Combined with a reverse topic-indexing system, targeted visual updates that avoid full widget repaints, and automatic CPU throttling when a tab is hidden. Use the viewer to show the dashboard on your device. Especially on low end devices. The Dashboard studio V2 is not compatible with iOS 12 (used by 2014 iPad Air 1), but the viewer is. So, it is still possible to[give this relic a second live](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Troubleshooting#it-does-not-work-on-my-ios-12-ipad-relic).

- **In-App Documentation Rewrite and Complete [Homey Beginner Guide](https://satoer.com/dashboardstudio/?docs=Homey%3A+The+Complete+Guide)**

- **In-App Documentation Search and Navigation**

- **Inline Image Gallery Pickers**
Every image URL input in the editor (such as Image widgets, container background pictures, and custom icon slots) now has an inline gallery button. Clicking it opens the Image Gallery so images can be picked or uploaded directly into the field without manually copying paths.

- **Dynamic Icon Switching with Payload Formulas**
Bound icon fields now support Payload Formulas. Icons can change automatically based on live values, like showing a sunny icon when solar production is high or switching between door open and closed glyphs.

- **Text Widget with Payload Formulas in Markdown**

- **Menu and Button Widgets with Label Hints**
Buttons and menu rows now support native browser tooltips that automatically appear when labels are too long to fit their containers, keeping long device names readable on hover.

- **Edit Box Widget with Open URL Action**

- **Dashboard File Save Format**
Dashboard JSON files are now stored in a clean, human-readable structure grouped logically into environment, container, typography, and widget defaults. Older dashboard files migrate automatically on first load.

- **Clock Widget 2-Digit Day and Month**
Clock Date Time Text date parts now include 2-Digit Day and 2-Digit Month. Single-digit days and months get a leading zero (so 8 becomes 08, and 12 stays 12), which is useful for compact numeric dates such as `08/09/2026`. 2 digit year setting will be released in the year 2099 (@JESO )

#### Fixes and Stability

- **Platform switching reconnection when returning to Homey:** Switching platforms away from Homey to Simulation and back no longer gets stuck on loading state.
- **Browser Back and Forward navigation and state recovery:** Navigating away to a link and clicking the browser Back button now properly restores the dashboard without network fetch errors or blank pages.
- **Homey live values instant synchronization on reconnect:** Opening a dashboard or waking an idle tablet tab immediately syncs live device states from Homey cache without waiting for the next device event.
- **Older tablet display support on iOS 12 and Safari 12:** Fixed layout clipping and scrolling bugs on older iPads commonly used as wall-mounted displays.

Well… that’s the bulk of changes. Probably forgot a couple of things. 😅 Anyway hope you like it, and if there are any problems please let me know. Also I would like to know conversion problems.
