After several restarts, a cuple of restores of older backups of my Homey, disabling/enabling wifi in Homey, and a couple of even more restarts, the Shelly 3.49.2 became installed again and now working. Conclusion = null. Mood = relieved.
I have installed a Shelly Plus Uni with 5 temperatur sensors, they show up in Homey as one device but I can access each sensor, no problem. But it would be great if I could add each sensor as its own device. In the Shelly app they are called Peripherals and they can be extracted as its own device, but these are not found in Homey.
Anyone know more about this, can this be done? Can I change the name of the sensor in Homey as I can in the Shelly app?
You could create a virtual device using the Device Capabilities app. You can create one per sensor or one containing all five sensors and give each their own name.
Here an example of such a virtual device with 3 temp sensors, each with a custom name and icon:
It is not possible to rename the sensors in the Shelly device in Homey, unfortunately.
Perfect, thanks!
Any update on that?
Hi everyone
I recently added some Shelly BLU door/window sensors to Homey - and they havenât received/updated any data since they were connected to Homey.
In the Shelly app and in Shelly cloud the sensors work just fine and report instantly when the doors and windows open/close (so I am pretty confident that his is not due to a misconfiguration on the Shelly devices).
However, these changes in data are not reflected in Homey - so there is clearly something not working correctly between Homey and Shelly.
Before I reach out to the app-developer I just wanted to do a sanity check here to see if there is some setting I have missed that could cause this behavior.

Found the solution - by watching Youtube videos of how to integrate Shelly BLU window/door sensor into Homey.
I was not aware that I had to manually click on âStart BLE proxyâ for each gateway device before the BLU sensors work in Homey.
It baffles me that this is not integrated in the Shelly app in Homey, so that when you add these devices this would either happen automatically or ask the user as part of integration.
My devices now work in Homey - because I clicked a button hidden away under the âMaintenanceâ tab on each Bluetooth gateway device.
When you have improvement suggestions, itâs best to discuss with the app maintainers (they donât read forum posts); Contact info is present on the app page at the app store.
.
This is not because the app developer doesnât like you ![]()
A developer once found out the possibilities of the Maintenance > Repair page(s), and this opened up a way to add (lots of) additional (custom) settings.
In fact, youâd address Athom, and ask why thereâs no âExtended Settingsâ (or the likes) tab for the developers to use, and improve user experience.
Hint: because it looks like you missed it: most apps have howtos, FAQ and troubleshoot info in the first post(s) of the dedicated app topics.
All info can be found at app store app pages.
Hi Peter
Thanks for replying.
If I understand you correctly:
Athom has put in place limitations that has prevented the developer of the Shelly app in Homey from creating a logical UX:
- The developer is unable to show additional info explaining that you need to enable bluetooth BLE manually - when you add a Shelly BLU device to Homey.
- The developer is unable to automatically enable Bluetooth BLE as a part of the pairing process of BLU devices.
Is this correct? If yes, then I will reach out to Athom and let them know of this issue.
The last part of your response indicates an implicit expectation that we should all remember to read everything listed in the community for the apps we use.
To that I would say that the exact reason I shifted away from Home Assistant was because of such things. You always had to read up on different stuff each time you wanted to add something.
The USP of Homey is how easy it is to use - and if I want something to be so complicated that I have to read up on community pages to understand how stuff works, then I would go back to Home Assistant.
So I do not agree with any sentiment that reading community pages should be mandatory when installing new apps/devices.
YW, Esben.
Youâd ask the dev for both.
Athom likes app and device config pages to have a common design / style. This indeed limits the freedom of choices by the devs.
The only way to âescapeâ this, for a developer, is using the Maintenance > Try to repair âworkaroundâ.
O wow, maybe thatâs only true on the flow creating part. It took me quite some time to âownâ Homey with all of its quirks, doâs & donâts. But I like it.
You canât agree, but itâs how it is, at least for the more complicated apps.
H.A. is way better on the plug and play department imho.
It has improved a lot the last 2 years.
Controlling TRV with Google Home Assistant - no longer works?!
Good morning,
I was cold and said, âOK Google, living room 24 degrees.â
But Google said it couldnât control the TRV!
So I tested the Shelly plugs and dimmers using voice commands.
Everything worked, except for the TRVs.
I thought it worked with Google Home before?
thanks for the reply ![]()
Any plans for supporting the Shelly WS90?
What is your question exactly?
Any way to set device status to show state of input on Shelly relays? Probably not, so who to turn to for feature request ? Athom?
Not sure why is not implemented yet, as its probably most usefull device status to display, along with power draw (for PM devices).
No, see the first post in this same topic:
I have only tested this on an old Shelly 1, so your mileage may vary, but it looks like the input can be read if the Shelly is setup with inputs in detached mode. There may be additional requirements regarding protocol e t c.
I think this is a little weird, and detached mode isnât always what you want, but if your application is to monitor a garage door it may be just what you want.
Is there any way to add a device from Shelly. ShellyAZPlug.
I get this message when I try to add it.
Did you add it to the phoneâs Shelly app already?
Did you read instructions and info from the 1st post of the Shelly app topic already?
Else:
You can make a request for support with the developer;
Youâll find the developerâs contact info on the Shelly app page at the app store.
Anyone looking into supporting Shelly Thermostat ST-1820? Thanks for all the things working right now, awesome ![]()
