Can not login after App update…

I was using the test version of 2.7.0 but decided to install the verified version from Homey App Store (I guess it is exactly the same code). When the new app started it showed “No response” on my Car device.

When I try to repair i got a message saying “Error Reconnection failed: Authentication failed - returned to login page. Check username and password”.

Any suggestion? Has KIA done something again?

I see the same issue with my KIA EV3.

Just updated the Homey, could that caused it?

I am on latest stable version of this app.

Hi Robin,

First, thank you again for all the work you have put into this app. I know you are maintaining it largely by yourself, and I genuinely appreciate it.

I rechecked the climate-status problem against the current 2.7.0 code. The command itself succeeds, Kia confirms it, and Kia Access shows climate control running, but Homey can remain unchanged for hours. Manual refresh also does not correct it.

I believe our earlier report may have led us toward an incomplete fix, so I want to own my part in that. In 2.7.0, a successful command first receives a cached follow-up status. If its timestamp is unchanged, it is ignored and a forced poll is scheduled two minutes later.

For Kia USA, however, the forced path calls `/rems/rvs` and then obtains the status applied to Homey from `/cmm/gvi`. If `/cmm/gvi` is still stale, the forced or manual refresh can still return the old state. Also, the old timestamp appears to be rejected only on the first follow-up, so the delayed poll may accept that same stale status.

I cannot claim this is definitively the cause without diagnostics from my vehicle, but it appears to be a strong possibility and could be relevant to other status-refresh reports after 2.7.0.

There is absolutely no urgency or expectation. If it would help, I would be happy to reproduce it and send a diagnostic report, or test any build whenever convenient.

Thank you again.

Hi Robin,

I wanted to revisit our earlier request about forcing a vehicle-status refresh because we may have misunderstood how Kia’s system works.

Our testing suggests that the refresh button in both Kia Access and Homey may only retrieve the latest status already stored in Kia’s cloud. It may not contact the vehicle or force it to produce a new status report.

For example, if the vehicle last communicated with Kia two hours ago, pressing refresh may successfully retrieve that same two-hour-old report. If an action then occurs at the vehicle, such as locking it, starting climate control, or requesting a 360° image, the vehicle may send a new report to Kia. The next refresh would then retrieve that newer report, and its displayed age would continue increasing until another vehicle event updates the cloud.

If this interpretation is correct, our previous request for Homey to force fresh vehicle data may not be realistic, since Kia Access itself does not appear able to guarantee that. Please feel free to disregard that request if it was based on our incorrect assumption.

Does this match your understanding of the Kia API? If so, perhaps the existing Homey refresh is already working correctly and is best understood as “retrieve the latest cloud status.”

Thank you again for all the work you have put into this app. I really appreciate your help and expertise.

@wevon Please do not let your AI create posts for you. It is way too verbose and does not help me scanning the thread for essential information.

Concerning your requests: I will not do new feature requests at the moment. Focus is on stability and keeping the api working!

The climate report staleness you experience could be unsolvable. But I am willing to look at another diagnostic report from you, taken right after a climate command and a manual refresh some minutes later.
