Hello

Have you tested google or Outlook calendars for example ?
Is it only for iCloud calendars your problem ?

Olivier

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this. The timeout is most likely caused by the size of the two iCloud calendars and the number of days/events being processed. The URL does not necessarily have to visibly end with .ics, as long as it is the public iCloud calendar URL and returns iCalendar data.

Could you please test each calendar separately first? Also, try reducing the number of displayed days. I’ll investigate improving the timeout handling and performance for large calendars. The separate calendar colors are a very good feature suggestion as well.

Hi @Olivier67,

Thanks for creating this app! It’s my most looked at widget currently 🙂

settings colors would be great! Also I agree with the previously mentioned idea for an option that shows “empty” days in some minimalistic manner. It would help to determine in a glance (visually) when a future event will be.

I do see what people mean with the alignment triggering a little bit of OCD, but at the same time it distinguishes Today and Tomorrow from events further away, so I don’t really mind.

One last question:

My dashboard turns on only when someone is near, resulting in a complete refresh of the calendar widget. During that time there is no data to be seen. Would there be some way of the refresh happening on the background, and to show data that was already in memory/cache or something? Or do homey dashboards not allow this? (Many 3rd party widgets have this problem I see).

Thanks again!

Hello 🙂

This update focuses on better reliability, clearer configuration and improved calendar visibility.
test only :

> **[Calendar-cloud | Homey](https://homey.app/en-us/app/com.calendar.cloud/Calendar-cloud/test/)**
>
> Elegant calendar widget for your Dashboard (iCloud, Google, Outlook)

### Improvements :

- Increased calendar request timeout to prevent failures with large iCloud calendars.

- Added a 5-minute cache to reduce repeated downloads and improve widget loading speed.

- Calendars are now processed independently, so one unavailable calendar will not block the others.

- Improved error messages for connection failures, HTTP errors and timeouts.

- Improved support for `webcal://` calendar URLs.

### New options :

- Choose a separate color for each calendar.

- Select colors by name instead of entering hexadecimal codes:
Blue, Green, Red, Purple, Orange and Yellow.

- Added translations for the new settings in all supported languages.

- Added an optional setting to display empty days in a compact way between today and the next event.

The empty-day display is disabled by default and can be enabled in the widget settings.

Thanks for the feedback and feature suggestions. Please continue to report any issues, especially with large iCloud or multi-calendar setups.

Hi @Olivier67, that was really quick!

The empty days work great and selecting colors is super helpful to make it similar to your normal calendar apps. Thanks a lot!

I haven’t noticed a big difference in loading times yet but I’ll monitor it. I noticed that “native” homey widgets are visible instantly and all 3rd party widgets have a similar loading times when opening a dashboard. Is that something you can work around as developer? Like show the previously loaded data while refreshing data in the background? Or do you always have to rebuild the whole widget?

That’s because native widgets are embedded in the mobile app, while app widgets are HTML pages that are loaded from your Homey, so it will take longer since there’s more content to load.

I have now updated to the test version and adding two large calendars is working as expected 🙂 I tried using 6 days of events and it went fine. So far so good.

(I only have icloud calandars to test with)

Color separation is working great, thanks.

Another feature request: Can you make an option to scroll inside the widget? I dont see all the events since max widget height is hiding them. Would be great if we could scroll down to see the whole list 😉

Hey @Olivier67, any chance it would be possible to increase support for multi-day events? Whenever I work a night shift for example, it would be a calendar event from e.g. 20:00-07:00. At the moment this event is only shown on the “first” day, while many calendar apps also show the appropiate part on the next day.

Thanks for considering 😊

I would like to test calendar cards in flows… but can’t configure any calendar url !

The widget works well, it is very nice !

Anything that I did wrong ?

Thanks for that great app anyway !

So, you can configure it in the dashboard widget settings (do not use the app settings):

@Peter_Kawa The instructions within the app are misleading, as it reads as though you need to go to the app’s settings to enter the ics URL for use in flows, rather than the widget.

I have the widget setup and working in a Dashboard… but the flow triggers when an event is due to start still fail to work… so I have been using the icalCalendar app for flows, which appears to have more flow functionality, and works well. (I’m sure my Homey isn’t thanking me for the extra resources two calendar apps use up ha ha ha 🤣 I really need to find time to perform the upgrade of my Homey Pro to the RPi CM4 module with 8GB RAM/16GB storage I have waiting)

Hello, I realy like the widget of your app, but I realised what is maybe a bug.

If I have a ‘all day’ appiontment, like a birthday, and the same day an appiontment ‘from… to …’ the timed appointment dissapaers before it is ended.

Today I noticed, that it’s not the all day event that makes another event disapear. All events disapear at start time. It would be good, if they only disapear at the event end time.

I have this app on my dashboard for a while now but I just notice something unexpected. Not sure if that has only recently been introduced or it has been there since the beginning (and I simply did not notice it before because I’m an idiot)

I have an Outlook ics connection and the app “thinks” the times in the calendar are in UTC. So when displaying an event the app adds a couple of hours. But the times in my agenda are already in local time so do not need adjusting. Now the incorrect times are displayed.

Also it woudl be nice if times are displays using 24-hour notation. I’m currently running app-version 1.3.3 on Homey Pro 2026.

I suspect this might be due to a wrong setting in your outlook calendar. You could download the \*.ics file and see if the correct timezone is set in your event details. It could also be that the locale settings of your homey and outlook calendar are not the same? You can check in homey settings which timezone you are in.

For me all times are shown in 24h format. No idea where that is defined.
