**HOW TO SETUP :**
- install Aquaro HUB and sensor, according to the vendor instructions
- in the Aquaro mobile app set in the _Settings –\> Homes –\> your home –\> MQTT Homey Assistant Integration_ - that one shall point to your MQTT Server (external or eg. [MQTT-Broker](https://homey.app/en-us/app/nl.scanno.mqttbroker/MQTT-Broker/) or [MQTT-Server by Athom](https://homey.app/en-us/app/net.weejewel.mqttserver/MQTT-Server/) running on your Homey)
- you must have MQTT Client installed, which is connected to the MQTT Server (eg. [MQTT-Client](https://homey.app/en-us/app/nl.scanno.mqtt/MQTT-Client/))
- then add new device, after installing [Aquaro Smart Water Monitor app](https://homey.app/en-us/app/com.aquaro/Aquaro-Smart-Water-Monitor/)

**Please note :**
- AI analysis of the consumption is not implemented as of 02/2026 by Aquaro
- if battery state of the sensor is not available, it’s issue with the sensor - verify using another MQTT Client which kind of messages are being sent by the sensor
- some of the previous sensors were reporting incorrectly cumulative reading of the water consumption, for adjustment of this behavior, see Sensor settings :
- in case you will need to replace your sensor, you can easily change the Aquaro Device ID
- in the setting, you can set also the current meter value / actual consumption
- first batches of sensors were not able to correctly detect ZERO flow, so that’s why I have implemented minimal flow and duration, for which the consumption will start counting _(if you don’t have such issues, simply reset that to 0)_
- I have my sensor installed aprox. 10m away in 3 meter deep concrete inspection chamber and even the RSSI is weak (lowest -86dBm, best -81dBm), it works quite well

Hi,
Love this! I was just planing to make an app for it when you launched 🙂
Anyway, I’m having a trouble getting it to work. I screwed up the installation instructions a bit, like
1. installed your app
2. installed the mqtt server
3. setup the mqtt server in the aquara app
4. installed the mqtt client
At this point I didn’t see anything in the aquara app (mqtt server shows connections correctly). so I uninstalled the device and the app and installed it again, but now it doesnt find any new devices during installation.
Any thoughts? Happy to supply debug info if needed.

First, thank you so much for making a Homey app.
Did a reinstall of my Aquaro. And i know there are som bugs. But what does (manual setup) mean? I cant recollect getting that message the first time i set up my Aquaro. It just went straight in without any title text in ()? @Sharkys

Can’t test currently, I don’t have replacement beta unit and access to Homey, still you don’t have to remove the previously paired device, you just replace device ID in the settings

NO drama. It seems there are some bugs for HA also now. I am not getting any data via mqtt to either platforms currently. In HA all sensor is marked with unknown. Bug is to be addressed next week apparently.

In that case it seems that the device did not send any MQTT data, so you were offered with DUMMY device, where you can set the Aquaro ID manually later.

that makes sense. It seems the mqtt trafic from the hub is a bit broken at the moment. Since i also see no data in HA as well. Will wait for info about next weeks update to the system and try again then.

Hi guys, I am not (yet) a Homey user but am very interested the Aquaro meter. I have been using a Flume, which works well, but my city is replacing our meters with new smart meters which are not compatible and don’t provide as granular of data. The Aquaro seems to meet all my needs (full battery operation of sensor, outdoor capable, remote hub)… but it is brand new and few user reports. It appears that you guys are struggling a bit to integrate it with Homey and I’m wondering if it has worked well as a standalone device with just their app, or is it still buggy. If you have used their app, any comments on it would be appreciated…

Not really, it works when the HUB actually sends the data from sensor 😉

Depends on what you expect - if tracking using AI, that’s not yet the thing and I believe it will still take some time / months ?
If you would like to track water consumption using Homey/HA, this is working fine unless you are on the limit on the sensor distance from the hub. Eg. my beta unit was working fine on sensor being 3m deep in concrete water shaft…but with my final unit, seems it’s not the case anymore, but they are still working on it, upgrading sensors and hub firmwares etc. For me, I anyway wouldn’t have any other choice and was quite happy to see that the sensor was able to operate even during winter without any bigger issues. But whether it’s still buggy ? Unfortunately it still is.

Which integration, you mean the one I vibe developed ? Someone else have to say, however it serves the purpose, it’s still however being actively developed product. Eg. promissed AI features, I start to doubt they will ever arrive.

I never really checked but I believe with calibration you can achieve more or less the same readings.

Yes I meant if the connection between Aquaro and MQTT/Homey is stable (also from your point of view as a developer, so that interfaces don’t change unanounced), I’m just interested in total consumption over time.

Yes I read those AI features, I doubt they’ll ever work properly, but they may give you an idea about the shares of your consumption.

It is stable, what I have problem with is loosing sometimes connectivity between sensor and hub, which require currently 1x per 2-3 weeks manual reboot. Aquaro team, namely Ram is aware of that and I knew they were addressing stability issues in the previous firmware versions, while some users confirmed improvement also in this area.
