He’s been missing from the forum for months, it would be good if he stepped aside and the project was taken forward by other, more serious developers

Hello, I used a long time the Alexa App to user my echo devices and worked really good.

Sometimes I needed to repair the devices to get back the connections to it.

Since some days or weeks repairing does not work any longer, and yes, I am using the right mail adress from amazon account 🙂 :

After some times Amazon asks to set new password.

Any solution for that?

It is really frustrating …

I had the same problem. But I could fix it when I restarted the login process. Do you use a password manager? If yes: Check if the right password is used. In my case it mixed passwords every second time and then amazon started password recovery.

For those having problems with the Amazon Alexa servers timing out authentication… I have created this Advanced Flow on my Homey Pro 2026, which has helped. The regular Reconnect (I wouldn’t increase the frequency too much, or you may get blocked/make things worse) seems to help reduce the amount of times I need to re-authenticate. And when the authentication does 💩 out, it lets me know, before I start having problems with things not working.

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/0/8/08b31b22db422b0887bdc046f309071965ed2733.png)
(The Clockwork App cards are there to stop getting spammed by notifications of authentication failure… you get one, until the next successful authentication resets the timestamp flag to NULL.)

IDEA that could possibly help with Amazon’s timeout policy:

@Jamie Is there any way you could store a hash of the password you enter in the App settings page in a Tag value… my thought process being that when the “unable to be authenticated by Amazon Server” flow card gets triggered, I could automate trying to re-authenticate. Could you possibly add this, and a Then flow card with fields for Username, Password (that you could pass the hash to) and a selection list of regions?

What do you think?

This app is now useless unfortunately. It loses connection everyday even after you apply the flow to reconnect hourly

Hi @Jamie

Have you abandoned your app or do you have something going?

Your last post anywhere was in January. Have you even abandoned Homey completely?

Just drop a short note please to let people know what to expect.

Short answer: NO.

Unfortunately the developer @Jamie was last active in the forum in January and it seems he has abandoned the App and most likely Homey. - I just hope it was not due to him niot doing well!

There is another App [[APP][Pro] Amazon Echo - Looking for testers and contributors](https://community.homey.app/t/app-pro-amazon-echo-looking-for-testers-and-contributors/120365) that is rock solid and is definitely the go to alternative for Echo devices.

Another good Alternative is (as usual) Home Assistant.

The Alexa/Amazon integration is absolutely flawless and reliable for alle Amazon devices including Fire Tablets etc. Once you got it running in HA, TTS and lots of other stuff works a treat.

_He who desires Homey shall have Home Assistant_ 🤣

Some information about how to do it is here:

> [@\[APP\]\[Pro\] Home Assistant - Community App](https://community.homey.app/t/app-pro-home-assistant-community-app/71477/630):
>
> New test version 1.3.14 Fixed device availability check. The device availability was not shown correctly in all cases. Now the device should act likt this: Entity got deleted in HA: [grafik] Entity has state “unavailable” [grafik] This check affects only the main entity of a device (e.g. the climate entity of a climate Homey device). Custom devices won’t be unavailable because these devices are just a group of independent entities. If such an entity is unavailable, the capability value …

Calling HA TTS looks something like this:

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/1/8/184d53e47ae8fc6212a5051638aa0b8247d792e6.png) ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/4/f/4f65a5c3bf8bf50de63032078d2e7571c7964c00.png)

And with a little help from AI it can be done in 30 Minutes (provided you have HA running already).

Did you first remove your Echo devices from your Homey under this Alexa app? It usually won’t add the same devices twice under different apps.

I managed to do it; I hadn’t realized I needed to log in via the app first.

The only thing is, I can’t get the music to play.

I’ve not used my Echo devices for playing music (for music I use Music Assistant and decent speakers and amplifiers) But I don’t believe you can start music playing through the Homey app, only control music that is playing. I think you need to create a Flow to select the music source and start it off playing, then you can Pause/Play, Skip etc on the device card in the Homey app.

For example:

Hey there

There app works well but I very often (every couple days or so) have to reconnect (log Alexa homey app back in). Any idea why? The best I could do to automate that is to have it announce to me that it disconnected.

Thank you for any idea you come up with

Miguel

Hi Jamie, I’m unable to authenticate my Amazon account in the Alexa app on Homey Pro. My Amazon email and password are definitely correct and work when signing in directly to Amazon, but the Homey login says that the email address or password is incorrect.I also tried “Sign in with Amazon Shopping App”. The Amazon authentication works, but afterwards I’m redirected back to my Homey’s local IP address and get an Amazon “Looking for Something?” error page instead of completing the authentication.I’ve been unable to connect the app at all. Could you please help me with the authentication/login issue? Thanks!

Sup,

I haven’t abandoned the app or homey, but mine is super stable and hasnt changed at all in ages.

Truth is I don’t have connection issues, so I had no idea others were having issues.

I can see the library it uses for connections was updated a couple of months afo to help with 2FA redirects..
