Hi everyone,

The App Store description is a short summary. Full setup instructions, technical explanations and limitations are maintained here; use the app’s Support or Community link to return to this guide.

From v0.3.67, app settings and supported diagnostic messages follow the language selected in Homey, with Norwegian and English available. The App Store description and this Community topic remain in English. Raw JSON logs, API field names and upstream error details remain technical.

I made Adax with Power Estimation because I wanted estimated watts and more useful energy information from my Adax heaters in Homey. This topic is for setup instructions, questions, feedback and release notes.

[App Store](https://homey.app/en-us/app/no.tjahnsen.adaxunofficial/Adax-with-Power-Estimation/) · [Test version](https://homey.app/en-us/app/no.tjahnsen.adaxunofficial/Adax-with-Power-Estimation/test/)

Adax with Power Estimation connects Adax WiFi panel heaters and thermostats to Homey through the Adax Cloud API. Control temperature and on/off, use your heaters in Flows, and follow estimated power and energy consumption. This is an unofficial community app with no affiliation to Adax.

**Getting started**

1. If you use the official Adax Homey app, remove the devices from that integration first. You can continue using the Adax mobile app.
2. In the Adax mobile app, open **Account → Third-party integration / External API** and create an API password. Note your account ID and the generated password.
3. Open this app’s settings in Homey, enter your Adax account ID and API password, and save.
4. Add a new device in Homey, select this app, and choose the Adax rooms to import.
5. Set the correct **nominal power** in each device’s advanced settings. The default is **1000 W**. For a room with multiple heaters, enter their combined wattage.

**Rooms and heaters**

The Adax API is room-based. Each device added to Homey represents an Adax room, which may contain several physical heaters. Heaters in the same room share control, status and energy information. Place heaters in separate Adax rooms if you want to control them independently.

**Power and energy**

Power in watts is estimated using the configured nominal wattage, available Adax status, temperature and local logic. It is not a physical measurement of the heating element.

Energy consumption combines local accumulation with available cloud energy data. Accepted cloud data replaces estimates for the corresponding periods. Local estimates continue between cloud updates and when cloud energy is unavailable. Requests are shared between devices on the same Adax account to reduce API traffic.

Each device also has an additional consumption display, separate from the total energy counter. It shows consumption today by default. In the device settings, you can choose **last hour, last 24 hours, today, yesterday, this month, last month, this year, or total logged by the app**. The selected period appears alongside the value.

Flow conditions let you check whether consumption for a selected period is above or below a threshold, so you can use it in notifications and automations.

**External temperature sensor**

You can select **External via Flow** in a device’s settings and supply readings through the **Set external temperature** Flow action. If readings become older than the configured maximum age, the app falls back to Adax’s internal temperature.

External readings are used for temperature display and local estimation in Homey. They do not replace the temperature used by the heater’s own thermostat.

**Limitations**

- Adax cloud updates can be delayed. Changes made on the heater or in the Adax mobile app may take time to appear in Homey.
- A heater being enabled does not confirm that its heating element is currently drawing power. Estimated watts can differ from actual consumption.
- Cloud energy may be delayed or unavailable for some rooms. The app cannot provide a guaranteed real-time status or billing-grade energy measurement.
- Set the nominal wattage correctly. An incorrect value affects local power and energy estimates.
- For strict load limits or peak protection, use a physical power meter and allow for delayed or uncertain heater status.
- Compatibility depends on Adax’s API and cloud services and may change if Adax changes them.

The app works alongside the Adax mobile app, but **must not be used alongside the official Adax Homey app**. It is provided as-is, without warranty.

## Optional diagnostic sharing

If you would like to help improve the estimates, you can enable voluntary diagnostic sharing in the app settings. Use v0.3.59 or newer, tick the consent box and press Save choice. Sharing is off by default and is not required to use the app.

New observations of temperature, setpoint, enabled state, estimated/nominal watts, cloud energy timestamps and energy\_log results are uploaded about every 15 minutes, using existing Adax requests. Only rooms added to that Homey are shared. There are no extra Adax calls for this feature. From v0.3.65, observations can also include the reason and time of a power estimate, the effective temperature, internal/external source, offset, setpoint, hysteresis and retained-estimate timing. This explains the local estimate and does not confirm physical heating. From v0.3.66, internal-temperature decisions can also include a passive candidate estimate without the display offset. The candidate does not change live watts, heater control or energy totals; external-temperature behavior is unchanged. Long-retained estimates are explicitly marked uncertain after 30 minutes.

Names, original Adax IDs, account credentials and Homey access are not shared. Installation, room and heater identifiers are pseudonymous, not guaranteed anonymous: usage patterns can still reveal how a home is used. I have access to the data, which is retained for up to 30 days. Switching sharing off stops uploads and requests deletion; if the server is unavailable, deletion is retried. [Privacy details](https://adax.one2.com/privacy).

## Reporting a problem

Please include the app version, Homey model/firmware, what you expected, and what actually happened. Mention whether you changed the heater through Homey, the Adax app or the heater itself. For energy problems, include the affected period and whether energy\_log is succeeding or returning an error in the device diagnostics.

Some Adax rooms currently return HTTP 502 for energy\_log while other rooms work. Local estimates and available withEnergy data continue, but this does not prove the estimate is physically accurate. The app cannot make Adax cloud updates arrive faster.

Please do not post API passwords, account IDs, access tokens or complete unreviewed diagnostic dumps. Screenshots may also contain private names and usage information, so check them before posting.

I will keep the setup information in this first post and add release notes as replies below.

>
> ### v0.3.48
>
> Validate energy fields without treating missing values as zero. Accept revisions to the same provisional hour without double counting. Show withEnergy reconciliation status and applied period time, with explicit timing uncertainty.
>
> ### v0.3.47
>
> Distinguish energy\_log attempts from successful responses, identify the corresponding rooms, and preserve success timestamps during failures.
>
> ### v0.3.46
>
> Prevent overlapping cloud energy from being counted repeatedly. Reconcile explicit periods, handle room-specific energy log failures, reject implausible cloud readings, and show current per-room energy log status and dates. Historical meter values are preserved.

> Energy baseline hardening: prevent historical Adax energy from appearing as new consumption after long idle periods, preserve existing meters during migration, and keep Homey cumulative energy monotonic while cloud corrections settle.
>
> ### v0.3.43
>
> Device lifecycle hardening: prevent stale timers from crashing the app after a Homey device is removed, and show a clear unavailable message when a heater room no longer exists in the Adax account.
>
> ### v0.3.42
>
> Settings diagnostics improvement: add a lightweight Control Health summary with recent command count, failures, queue status, pending-control events, last restart, and uptime without loading the full runtime JSON log.
>
> ### v0.3.41
>
> Stability hardening: settings diagnostics are now read-only on open, diagnostic histories expose sample counts with stricter caps, pending heater controls are reported after app restarts, and target temperature changes preserve an off heater instead of sending on-fallback payloads.
>
> ### v0.3.40
>
> Diagnostics retention improvement: keep 30 days of shared cloud diagnostics by compacting raw samples into hourly buckets instead of deleting history, preserving trends while staying light on Homey Pro 2019 memory.
>
> ### v0.3.39
>
> Stability fix for Homey Pro 2019: compact shared diagnostic histories and cap future diagnostic samples to reduce memory pressure that could interrupt queued heater control commands.
>
> ### v0.3.38
>
> Control UI fix: optimistic on/off changes now immediately update estimated power as well, so heaters turned off no longer keep showing local power while cloud confirmation is pending. Off commands also include a fallback payload for stricter Adax rooms.
>
> ### v0.3.37
>
> Settings page hotfix: opening the settings dialog now loads the normal diagnostics and rolling API usage graph automatically while keeping the heavy runtime JSON log behind the manual Refresh runtime log action.
>
> ### v0.3.36
>
> Settings page responsiveness: the app settings dialog now becomes ready immediately, loads account diagnostics progressively, and no longer fetches/renderes the runtime JSON log during initial open.
>
> ### v0.3.35
>
> Control stability: Adax control commands are now queued per shared account with a short debounce and spacing between requests, while Homey still reflects user changes immediately and keeps pending state until the cloud catches up.
>
> ### v0.3.34
>
> Fold remaining pre-hybrid estimates into the cloud baseline without changing total energy. Clear old correction history and clarify diagnostics.
>
> ### v0.3.33
>
> Use withEnergy provisionally between energy\_log updates without double counting. Update reconciliation diagnostics only when new cloud energy is applied.
>
> ### v0.3.32
>
> Preserve total energy while clearing stale reconciliation backlog and deviation history predating the energy\_log timestamp fix.
>
> ### v0.3.31
>
> Fix energy\_log millisecond timestamps. Show reconciliation in kWh and replace misleading tiny-delta percentages with kWh differences and context.
>
> ### v0.3.30
>
> Use a 48-hour API usage baseline with a retention buffer so baseline collection can complete.
>
> ### v0.3.29
>
> Remove the unsupported process-memory probe; retain uptime, restart and account diagnostics.
>
> ### v0.3.28
>
> Guard Homey process-memory errors to prevent runtime diagnostics from crashing the app.
>
> ### v0.3.27
>
> Record uptime, the previous event on startup, and a 15-minute diagnostic heartbeat to investigate unexpected restarts.
>
> ### v0.3.26
>
> Remove obsolete sync tracing and noisy room logs; retain control-first startup and guarded energy synchronization.
>
> ### v0.3.25
>
> Show runtime events in Oslo time alongside precise UTC/epoch timestamps. Replace heater artwork.
>
> ### v0.3.24
>
> Restore energy\_log behind startup and post-control quiet periods to keep cloud-energy requests away from heater changes.
>
> ### v0.3.23
>
> Register controls before first sync. Delay withEnergy after startup and recent commands to avoid blocking controls.
>
> ### v0.3.22
>
> Restore withEnergy with batched diagnostics; keep energy\_log temporarily disabled. Schedule adaptive polling one minute before observed refreshes.
>
> ### v0.3.21
>
> Restore local energy and consumption display while keeping cloud reconciliation temporarily disabled for crash isolation.
>
> ### v0.3.20
>
> Temporarily disable background energy processing, consumption refresh and the energy ticker to isolate crashes; retain temperature/status sync.
>
> ### v0.3.19
>
> Defer all control work to the next tick so capability listeners acknowledge Homey immediately without logging or storage work.
>
> ### v0.3.18
>
> Add post-control polling quiet periods, serialize overlapping device tasks, improve log copying and poll slightly after observed refresh intervals.
>
> ### v0.3.17
>
> Prevent diagnostic settings updates from recursively triggering sync. Skip unchanged writes and trace sync after controls.
>
> ### v0.3.16
>
> Simplify UI-first background control and add persistent JSON runtime logs for crash investigation.
>
> ### v0.3.15
>
> Return immediately from heater listeners without pending-state writes or immediate sync; send commands in the background.
>

> ### v2.0.0
>
> Major update: shared Adax credentials are now stored once in App Settings, pairing reuses them automatically, devices prefer central credentials with legacy fallback, and the app description/readme now matches the new setup flow.
>
> ### v0.1.65
>
> Shared app credentials via App Settings; pairing now reuses saved Adax Account ID/API password and devices prefer central credentials with legacy fallback.
>
> ### v0.1.64
>
> Energy reconciliation update: when Adax withEnergy returns a positive cloud delta, the app now clears local energy overlay so Homey follows cloud-backed energy more closely instead of preserving local drift.
>
> ### v0.1.63
>
> Energy model update: local energy now remains the continuous base, content?withEnergy is the primary cloud reconciliation every 15 minutes, and energy\_log is reduced to a once-daily background history check.
>
> ### v0.1.62
>
> Rate-limit UX update: default polling is now 60 seconds, new devices start at 60 seconds, and HTTP 402/429 now show a clearer Adax request-limit message during pairing and on affected devices.
>
> ### v0.1.61
>
> Safety guard: set the minimum regular polling interval to 30 seconds to match observed Adax API limits and reduce accidental request-limit lockouts.
>
> ### v0.1.60
>
> Rate-limit compatibility update: treat documented Adax request-limit responses (HTTP 402) the same as HTTP 429, with automatic backoff to reduce repeated API lockouts.
>
> ### v0.1.59
>
> Rate-limit reduction: raised the default status polling interval to 30 seconds, reduced post-control sync retries, and kept the staggered 15-minute energy polling strategy to further reduce Adax API pressure.
>
> ### v0.1.58
>
> Polling resilience update: regular status sync no longer requests withEnergy on every poll, HTTP 429 now triggers automatic backoff instead of quickly making the device unavailable, and cloud energy diagnostics remain split between energy\_log and withEnergy.
>
> ### v0.1.57
>
> Energy polling update: staggered Adax energy\_log and withEnergy polling to every 15 minutes each (offset by 7.5 minutes), split diagnostics into separate energy\_log/withEnergy error fields, and treat HTTP 429 as transient to avoid unnecessary device dropouts.
>
> ### v0.1.56
>
> Energy fallback update: when Adax energy\_log fails, the app now uses content?withEnergy=1 as a conservative fallback and only applies positive hourly deltas as cloud-backed energy corrections.
>
> ### v0.1.55
>
> Diagnostics polish: energy diagnostic timestamps now render in Europe/Oslo time so Adax sync/attempt times match Norwegian local time.
>
> ### v0.1.54
>
> Energy diagnostics update: added last Adax energy attempt and last Adax energy error so failed cloud energy syncs are visible directly in device settings.
>
> ### v0.1.53
>
> Energy diagnostics update: added Adax energy point count, latest Adax point timestamp, and latest Adax point value to help distinguish missing cloud data from local-only energy accumulation.
>
> ### v0.1.52
>
> Energy diagnostics: added device settings that show the last Adax energy sync time, the latest Adax energy delta, and the current local energy overlay.
>
> ### v0.1.51
>
> Energy fix: added a dedicated local energy ticker so meter\_power keeps increasing from live watt usage while Adax cloud history still reconciles in the background.
>
> ### v0.1.50

> Device icon polish: refined the heater mask proportions to better match the slim official Adax panel icon in Homey tiles.
>
> ### v0.1.38
>
> Hotfix: made Adax energy\_log sync non-blocking so temporary 5xx errors no longer make an otherwise healthy heater unavailable.
>
> ### v0.1.37
>
> Resilience update: transient Adax 5xx sync errors now keep the last known device state and only mark the device unavailable after repeated failures.
>
> ### v0.1.36
>
> Flow icon polish: made the heater outline larger, thinner and slightly more angled to better match the official Adax icon proportions.
>

Hi Jacques! It looks like the Adax account ID field contains “Service 2”. This needs to be your **account ID** , not the name you gave the API integration.

In the Adax app, go to **Account → Third-party integration / External API** and create an API password. Then enter your account ID and that generated password in the Homey app settings and press **Save**. Use the API password, rather than your normal Adax login password.

Let me know if that helps 🙂

**v0.3.65 — Explain the power estimate**

Optional diagnostic sharing can now include why the app chose its watt estimate, when that decision was made, the temperature and setpoint used, internal/external temperature source, offset, hysteresis and whether an earlier estimate was retained. The explanation keeps its own timestamp, separate from the cloud observation.

This helps investigate cases where estimated watts differ substantially from cloud energy. It does not fix or recalibrate the estimate yet, and is not a physical measurement of heating. Heater controls, energy calculations and Adax polling frequency are unchanged.

Sharing remains optional and off by default. No sensor names, account credentials or extra Adax requests are added. The settings and privacy information explain the diagnostic fields. Earlier observations simply have no explanation; new context appears after installing this version and subsequent scheduled uploads.

Build 237 has been uploaded to the Homey Developer Portal. App Store and test-channel availability may follow later.

## v0.3.66 – passive comparison and clearer uncertainty

This update adds a passive comparison of internal-temperature watt estimates without the display temperature offset. It helps us investigate differences in the estimates while leaving live watts, heater control, energy accounting and Adax polling unchanged. External-temperature behavior is unchanged.

Long-retained estimates are now explicitly marked uncertain after 30 minutes in device diagnostics. For people who have opted into diagnostic sharing, the admin dashboard also summarizes model differences and observation coverage, with a filter for rooms that need a closer look. Missing observations and unknown candidate estimates remain visible as such. These are diagnostic indicators, not physical power measurements.

The temperature-adjustment setting now explains that the current live model also uses this offset. The passive candidate does not change that model. Diagnostic sharing is still optional and off by default.

**v0.3.66 is now available as an app update (Build 238).** Please update the app to receive the new diagnostics. The new comparison requires observations from v0.3.66; older data cannot supply it.

The setup guide in the first post and the consolidated version history above have also been updated.

## v0.3.67 – Norwegian and English in the app

App settings now follow the language selected in Homey, with Norwegian and English available. The update also translates supported diagnostic status messages, pairing guidance and Flow validation errors. The existing Norwegian and English device settings and Flow cards are retained.

The full App Store description stays in English, including on the Norwegian storefront. This Community topic and release notes also stay in English. Raw JSON logs, API field names and upstream error details remain technical.

This is a language update. Heater control, power estimation, energy accounting and Adax polling are unchanged. Diagnostic sharing remains optional and off by default.

Uploaded to the Homey Developer Portal as **Build 239**. App Store/test channel availability has not yet been confirmed. Once installed, the app uses your Homey language setting; no separate app language selection is needed.

## v0.3.71 – drawn heater artwork and App Store summary

The driver image is now a flat, drawn heater symbol on white. The heat waves follow the panel perspective, getting larger toward the nearer side. It has no realistic surface, shading or depth effects. Both required image sizes are included. This replaces the intermediate artwork from the preceding builds.

The English App Store description is now a short two-paragraph summary. Full setup instructions, technical explanations and limitations remain in the first post of this topic, through the app’s Support and Community links.

This update changes presentation only. Norwegian and English support, heater control, power estimation, energy accounting and Adax polling are unchanged.

Uploaded to the Homey Developer Portal as Build 243. App Store/test-channel availability has not yet been verified.
