# [APP] Panasonic Aquarea via HeishaMon

Local control and monitoring of Panasonic Aquarea heat pumps through a HeishaMon gateway. No cloud, no Panasonic account, no permissions.

**App Store:** **Source & issues:** [Panasonic Aquarea via HeishaMon | Homey](https://homey.app/nl-nl/app/nl.alexredwood.aquarea-heishamon/Panasonic-Aquarea-via-HeishaMon/test/)

* * *

## What it does

HeishaMon is a small board that plugs into the CN-CNT connector of your Aquarea indoor unit and publishes everything the heat pump knows over MQTT — 140+ values, and 48 writable settings. This app turns that into two Homey devices.

**Heat pump** On/off, operating mode, zone setpoint, room/inlet/outlet/outside temperatures, Eco and Boost as single-tap toggles (they can’t both be on — the pump can’t do both either), defrost state, 3-way valve position, error code, compressor frequency, pump flow.

**Hot water** Its own thermostat device with tank temperature, setpoint, forced cycle and sterilization. Only offered if your pump reports a tank.

**Energy & COP** kWh in and out, lifetime and per day. Live COP, plus an energy-weighted COP for today and yesterday. The live figure swings between 0 and 15 within one compressor cycle; the daily one is what actually tells you how the system did. Electricity shows up in Homey Energy.

**Fractional setpoints** _(optional)_ The Aquarea only takes whole degrees, and every degree of flow temperature is worth about 2-2.5% efficiency. Turn this on and the slider moves in 0.1 °C steps; the app alternates between the two neighbouring whole degrees on a duty cycle so the average lands where you asked. About two writes an hour.

**Adaptive weather compensation** _(optional)_ A slow control loop that nudges the heating-curve offset to hold your room temperature at the lowest water temperature that still works. Feed it any Homey temperature sensor with one Flow. Over a few weeks it also learns whether the _slope_ of your curve is wrong and gives you a recommendation — applying it is your call.

**Configuration** Heating curves for both zones, deltas, cut-off temperatures — read live from the pump, writable behind a safety switch.

**39 Flow cards** , including “Send HeishaMon command” with autocomplete over every documented SET topic and range checking.

## What you need

1. A HeishaMon gateway on CN-CNT — [GitHub - heishamon/HeishaMon: Panasonic Aquarea air-water H, J, K, L and M series MQTT gateway · GitHub](https://github.com/heishamon/HeishaMon)
2. An MQTT broker on your LAN. The **MQTT Broker** app from the App Store works; so does Mosquitto on a NAS/Pi.
3. HeishaMon pointed at that broker (its web UI → Settings).

You do **not** need the MQTT Client app; the client is built in. The pairing wizard finds your HeishaMon on the broker automatically.

Supported series: H, J, K, L, M — whatever HeishaMon supports.

## Getting started tips

- Leave fractional setpoints and adaptive tuning **off** for the first couple of weeks. Confirm data comes in reliably first.
- When you enable adaptive tuning, start with “Maximum correction” at 1-2 K, not 3, and watch it for a week.
- Adaptive tuning needs the pump in **compensation-curve** mode. In direct mode it refuses to run and tells you why.
- HeishaMon’s power figures are the heat pump’s own estimates, not a calibrated meter. Treat COP as a trend, not a certified number.

### Version history

**1.6.0** — First public release.

**1.7.0** — _Added:_ the compact and tall dashboard widgets.

**1.8.0** — _Added:_ the chart widget, over 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours. The app keeps the measurements itself, so no extra access to your Homey is needed.

**1.9.0** — _Added:_ four widgets — energy by hour, energy balance, control, and the heating curve with your operating point.

**1.9.1** — _Fixed:_ the coldest and warmest outside temperature were swapped in the heating curve settings.

**1.9.2** — _Fixed:_ the app crashed whenever the MQTT broker was unreachable. Devices now show as unavailable and reconnect by themselves.

**1.9.3** — _Fixed:_ the bottom row fell outside the frame on the large widget, and widgets showed English labels on a non-English Homey.

**1.9.4** — _Changed:_ support now runs through the Homey Community Forum.

**1.9.5** — _Changed:_ the heat pump in the widget takes the colour of what it is doing, and the fan blades were redrawn.

**1.9.6** — _Added:_ return temperature and compressor frequency in the widget, a defrost cell and a three-column layout. _Changed:_ “Water” is now called “Flow”.

**1.10.0** — _Fixed:_ power, kWh and COP did not come through on K, L and M series. _Added:_ a monitoring-only mode in which the app never writes to the heat pump, and a log of every command sent with its source.

**1.10.1** — _Changed:_ the heat pump no longer has a standard on/off switch, so a scene that turns everything off cannot take it with it. Hot water is controlled from the hot water device only. Flows using the standard on/off card need the “Turn heat pump on/off” card instead.

**1.11.0** — _Added:_ price steering through Flow cards — shift the curve or pause heating for a set time, reverting by itself including after a restart. The offset adds to adaptive tuning instead of overwriting it. _Changed:_ the control widget reacts instantly, can switch heating and cooling, and only shows hot water if you have a tank. The status widget is taller.

**1.11.1** — _Fixed:_ a price offset was not resumed after a restart, so it would not expire by itself.

**1.12.0** — _Added:_ the app fetches a weather forecast itself and eases the curve down in advance when it will get warmer or sunnier. No account or key needed. A Flow card works too if you prefer your own weather source. _Fixed:_ the status widget cut off its bottom row.

**1.13.0** — _Added:_ connect straight to HeishaMon without an MQTT broker. Watching of water flow and pressure with alerts. Short-cycling detection with compressor starts per hour. Defrost statistics including duration and whether a backup element assisted. A status line in the log every fifteen minutes, to switch on before creating a diagnostic report.

**1.13.2** — _Fixed:_ a mistake in 1.13.0 stopped the app connecting to the MQTT broker at all, and the certificate-checking setting was ignored for mqtts://.

**1.13.3** — _Fixed:_ a failed forecast now says what went wrong instead of only that it failed, and fetching works on older Homey firmware.

**1.13.4** — _Added:_ the device settings show what the weather service last returned, with a button to test it immediately.

**1.14.0** — _Fixed:_ running a fixed water temperature instead of a curve gave you a slider in kelvin rather than the temperature itself. _Added:_ heat pumps that do not report which of the two they use are recognised from the value, and you can set it explicitly.

**1.14.1** — _Fixed:_ flow and return were swapped on the device, which made the return look hotter than the flow. They are now called “Flow (to house)” and “Return (from house)”; Insights history is kept.

**1.15.0** — _Changed:_ the operating mode is protected against accidental changes, because the picker committed the moment you touched it and could silently turn “heat + hot water” into “heat only”. Flow cards and the control widget still change it, and a setting allows it from the device again. _Fixed:_ the room temperature stayed empty if you use the heat pump’s own sensor rather than a separate one, and today’s electricity and heat were hidden behind the diagnostics setting.

**1.15.1** — _Fixed:_ adding a new heat pump was impossible since 1.13.0 — the pairing screen failed the moment you pressed scan. _Changed:_ the device names and pairing screen are now fully translated; an English Homey was still shown Dutch names.

**1.16.0** — _Fixed:_ a deleted device could keep writing setpoints to the heat pump. Every config change made on the heat pump itself threw away the chart data and the weather forecast and left timers running twice. The control widget walked past the operating-mode lock. An unreachable HeishaMon on a direct connection reported nothing at all. A refused pause switched the heat pump back on later anyway. The short-cycling condition card never worked. The pairing guide was silently English.

**1.17.0** — _Added:_ the defrost sensor, high and low refrigerant pressure, the speed of both fans and the heat pump’s own start counter, all under the diagnostics. _Fixed:_ a defrost assisted by an external element was reported as having run on the compressor alone.

Hallo Alex,

Gr Louis

It should work better than the standard HA integration with only heating.

My Panasonic is running for heating only and have a separate Atlantic for DHW.

Yes! There are flow cards available for DHW and the Heating.

You can do flows on PV output, dynamic tarrifs and I’m working on built in logic/intelligence for DHW

@AlexRedwood
My english is not that good.
I don’t use a heating curve; instead, I heat by setting the flow temperature. You can do this using the room thermostat dial—provided the settings in the service cloud are correct—or by adjusting it directly in the service cloud while the thermostat simply displays the room temperature. However, I cannot adjust it there if I want to raise the “target water temperature.”
This _can_ be done, however, using Heishamon on Home Assistant.

nu even mijn flows gaan aanpassen.
